Arsenal Thread

saw most of the match and we were definately going for the win and city were sitting back for most of the game. Hard to break down a team the way City play, but we did a few times.

Frustrating, but with Spurs losing (hopefully, not finished yet) it isn't as bad.

Sagna very stupid at the end aswell.

Decent result, since we have taken 4 points off City which the maximum amount United and Spurs can and more than Chelsea could.

Let's face it, it wasn't a classic but City decided that they weren't good enough to win and a draw was the best they could get out of the game. We threw almost the kitchen sink at the, but you can't do a lot when you don't have any lucky against a team defending that deep.

And you said we parked the bus!

Wow! this wasnt even close to the mutd game. Even though we ran out of ideas they never took a shot on target. I said they would play for the draw and they`ll do the same at OT.

All the £££ in the world and they bought an defensive team :BRMM: credit to them. They had more blue shirts cramp inside that box. Then, humanly possible I thought. Credit to Arsenal for trying to squeeze past that defense even Robin striking a crack from outside the box . We hit the post about 3x it wasn`t meant to be.

he took the bait n sinker w/ it ..he`ll miss only:

Arsenal vs Leeds
Ipswich vs Arsenal
West Ham vs Arsenal

negative city. fucking shit team they are. them wanting to challenge for teh title? LOL they played more like a team fighting for relegation scrapping for a point!

But they're above you in the league.

Seriously though, Mancini clearly thinks if he can get at the minimum draws against the rest of the challengers and then pick up wins against everyone else, they'll be in with a shout and he's probably right.

It's just not nice to watch and for all the money they spent, you expect better.

F*ckin hell, that was attack vs defense training all day long. Tevez being the only concern (yeah he's a handful) they didn't offer any danger whatsoever.

However, that old story of "no plan B" springs to mind. AW's tactics are quite strange when he needs to grab a late winner. when there were 10 min left, everyone could clearly see what it was all about, there was no more interplay and penetration through that defense. So it was time for urgency, hoof the ball up there for the Dane, FFS! And what does Arsène do? Sticks Bendtner on the LEFT WING! Bewildering

on a side note, what was the ref thinking giving only 4 minutes?? He wasted like 3 minutes to control that fracas and on the sending off itself! That was ridiculous. No Arsène time?? :D

Bad luck for Arsenal.
As a neutral i would 've preferred a win for the attacking team, but all credit to City.
The red card for Zabaleta was a typical example of home refereeing. it was clear that Saqgna was the agressor.

A late reply to Bobby: football is a job like any other...
I've been thinking why i am one of the only people who has a different view. It's age.
When you are young money is less important and you tend to be more idealistic about professions and carreer. But believe it's all about money except for some really special jobs: social worker, doctor (and that is mostly also about money), fire man and things like that.

Always supposing this is true...

Excellent move from Barcelona.
Nasri is exactly the type of player for Barcelona, more so than Cesc Fabregas.

Every time Barcelona makes a move on an Arsenal player we should send jonney down to Rosell's office to give him a piece of his mind.

slow down mate, I`m sure barca never heard of nasri  they have nasri type of players growing like fruits in their backyard brotha.
regardless, all you have to do is put out a rumour you are interested in a player and it can unsettle that player.

FUCK BARCELONA. hope we piss all over them in the champions league

Just got around to seeing the whole match - what a shower of sh*te. You were very unlucky not to score in the first 20, but then never really looked like scoring after that once City established that they shoudl include their attacking midfielder/ support striker as 4th (5th?) defensive midfielder.

£500m can't buy you decent football I see...

You can say many things about Man Utd, but you won't see them sitting back cowardly like that. I can't remember them doing that...

But you can win silverware without decent football. Man Utd is proving this since 1999.

:LMAO: behave

They had the best partnership strikers I think "yorke-n-cole" . Counter-attacking looks good ,but not really brilliant football. Arsenal wasn`t eye dropping either ,BUT.... to each it`s own. Now, mtud are playing so woeful they have no one who can handle 3 to 4 passes. Their tactics are not the same w/o scholes imo. ATM Spurs n Arsenal playing the most exciting footy in the PL.

I agree with Beboq and also partly agree with Gerd. It's obvious that now and then Mutd has played brilliant football, but overall, I think Mutd resembles a lot Real Madrid in the last 15 years. They both win by knockout, by sheer power and raw abilities, not by dominating the opponent and by creative skills, to say something. I don't mean they don't have them! They are great teams that play better than most of the teams. But if we are to compare big teams and how they approach to victory, they don't put the accent there, on creativity, but on power.

Some will love this kind of direct approach to the game, some won't. It's a matter of tastes. Obviously, being from Barcelona, I've been used to another conception of football, by having the ball, moving, passing and trying to make football a nice thing. It's not more "valid" or "better", it's simply the style every person will like. Arsenal plays a very similar game, as did the Sacchi's Milan, Michels Ajax and the 60s and 80s Real Madrid.

I've said many times in the Barcelona thread that Ronaldo will never be half the player Messi is because of that. Messi has vision, creativity, skill and the ability to do unexpected things. Cristiano is sheer power. I understand some people will like one over the other, but in my personal conception of football, what makes Messi the greatest is the same that makes me enjoy an Arsenal match a lot more than any Mutd match I've seen in the last 2 to 3 years. It's a matter of tastes.

As for the Barça interest in Nasri or any other Arsenal player, the club should always use this example to remind them what could happen in a not so distant future:

Barca v Man Utd 2008 both legs of that semi (the one where Ronaldo missed a pen in the Nou Camp and then Zambrotta gifted them a goal at OT). I would say they were negative in those games. Not saying it's a bad thing, or they do it all the time, but I def remember those games as pretty drab.
