Arsenal Thread

I don`t remember seeing so many long throws n GK long kicks into the box by any other team besides Stokes. I mean from the start to the finish , playing the whole match like it was on injury time :CONFUSE: . Where is the build up? the composer ? Then they scored from a pass  .

I think I`m getting closer to remove my "still in training" quote for Theo on my avatar. The boy has stepped up n his shot power broke the net :WORSHIP:

Jack still manage to get a game he shud of bury that goal good day . We manage to win in a very testing match n spuds lost to Wigan at WHL :BOP: .Thank you Lord!

Koz keep lifting and eating bud :P

From the City side of thing it seems were after Begovic as backup for Hart, Given to Fulham on loan and Schwarzer to you lot....

Maybe! according to Wenger`s post match comments he said " As for Us the transfer window is over so for the moment it`s dead"
What does that mean it`s over for us and for the moment it`s dead. I take it, If Fulham wants they can take the deal or not we aren`t coming back.... Wenger is a gambling man  I also, agree wit GoonerLover66 nothing is over until 31st midnight

Exactly! When they put the ball on the ground and tried to play some f*cking football for a change, guess what: they scored!!

I totally agree with Wenger's pre-match comments. That is another sport already, what Blackburn and Stoke are playing, putting big guys pushing and kicking the goalie inside when corners and long throws are played inside the box (have you watched Stoke vs Spuds??)

And that towel man, it's ridiculous. Especially Stoke, the guy spends 5 minutes drying the ball.

When playing those teams at the Emirates, Arsenal should have buckets filled with water on the sidelines. Every time they're taking their throw-ins, the ball should be dipped in. I mean, if towels are allowed, they will have to allow this as well.

I think I'm gonna e-mail this suggestion to Arsenal.

:LMAO: Hahaha! That's brilliant!

Its been 8 years since Arsenal won a Premier League game away from home against a side managed by Sam Allardyce. Football finally won!! :BOP:

Jesus, that's sucking life out of him. Just like Robben, incredible players that can't play more than 10 consecutive matches without getting an injury, what a pitty. I hope the team doesn't miss him too much and continue winning all the matches.

PS: I went to Kenya and Tanzania this summer and everybody there watches mainly the Premier League (they also drive on the left) and only some other big european teams. People there is very poor and they will use the same shirt for weeks. They just love to wear football shirts (given by tourists or bought in the markets... not exactly the official shirts....). The thing is, Arsenal is the team I saw more shirts around by a large margin, almost doulbing Chelsea, who was the 2nd in my particular ranking of shirts.

Tied in third place there were Manchester, Barcelona and Inter, and only very very sporadically I saw a Milan, Madrid or Liverpool shirt.

Make of this what you want!

Arsenal employs lots of french Africans where they get rich and give back to Africa continent ...saving lives makes an impact.I think Kanu started the contribution n playing the lovely Football with Africans is a bonus :)

Schwarzer stays at Fulham, thanks Mr. Wenger for the new keeper

Is it Wengers fault?

Not the fact Fulham had to find a quality replacement to replace Schwarzer before they sold him and they couldn't get one? and the fact Mark hughes hates us.

Is it his fault Shay Given stayed at Man City?

There are so many factors that have resulted in us not getting a keeper than Wenger, at least he was trying to get a keeper this season.

I am dissapointed of course, but I can't blame it all on Wenger this time.

I am praying Almunia plays out of his skin this season, he has it in him...just whether it will happen or not.

That was not referred specially to Schwarzer, just the fact that he doesn't get "any" new keeper disappoints me.
Everytime he says that he has money and he will spend it and guess what, again a quiet transfer window for us
and to say it's hard to sign a new keeper is stupid, there are so many clubs which
signed good keepers in this window, for example Eduardo to Genoa.

It's hard to sign a great keeper which is what we should be going for isn't it? They are either at very good clubs already or on long contracts.

From all of the rumours aswell it seemed like he was going for a few keepers, money couldn't have been the only issue to not getting them? there are millions of other reasons why players don't get signed, so to assume it is because Wenger won't spend money, is a bad assumption.

Just because you have the money, doesn't mean players automatically want to come to play for you.

In some ways I am glad he just didn't sign any old keeper just to keep the fans happy.

Also define a quiet transfer window? we got 3 players in?! if he got the keeper, it would have been a great transfer window for us.

Like all Arsenal fans though, I wish we could have a got a high quality keeper. But unlike last season, I think Arsene was trying to get a keeper this season. So i am not goign to blame him for this season :))

Looks like we are stuck with Almunia then.

I'm taking a positive approach to it though, he had a good season a couple of seasons ago and I think he has it in him to do it again. It is up to him to prove us all wrong.

We don't have another option at the moment and I am fed up bitching and moaning about it.

I am praying there are no major fuck ups!

FFS! Well that was a major let down. A lot of frustration is the feeling at the moment.

The keepers were a fucking liability last season, and i can't see them getting any better this season. Almunia must be smiling from ear to ear. However, Fulham in their right were not going to weaken their stance without bringing in a capable deputy. Ho hum.

I believe Schwarzer was a stop gap until Szczesny was 21-22 and took over as full number 1. He has faith in the young keeper for the future. We now have to rely on Almunia and Fuckupski to keep their concentration and not have a spaz/LSD moment, and twitch the fuck off and let in a sitter/clanger.

Guess the same shakiness at the back for the whole season with the defence not having faith in the keeper. Not overly happy with the progress since July, and Stoke must be relishing their next games with us. It'll be a long season i think.

Well, you can`t expect to have 5 keepers w/ none leaving. I doubt there was even a plan to get Mark £2mil was the only offer it was never going thru n Fulham were insulted. Stubbornness could make you as much as break you. So complicated :JAY:

Can't wait for the first keeper slip up, back page leader anyone...

Sad but true. It's only a matter of time.... :(

Tho Almunia is better than some give him credit for. Nonetheless, he should've been replaced and shouldn't be #1 at a club challenging for title and realistically wanting to win the league.

About Arsenal's keeper tantrums.

Having been a (lousy) keeper myself, i still think Almunia can become a great keeper.
But if Wenger is concerned that he isn't..it can't be that difficult to find good young GK's.
Look at Mignolet. Two years ago he was a nobody in Belgium. His team promoted to the Jupiler League, was expected to relegate, but almost went in Europe because they had a splendid GK. How can Arsenal scouts have missed this (on top of that Vermaelen knows Mignolet very good).
This is only an example. There surely must be other promising GK's all over Europe. Why not give confidence to such a young promising GK?

Oh wait, I forgot that "promising" means Belgian to you.

Not at all...I was merely citing Mignolet as an example.
A couple of years ago Arsenal could have gone for Lloris to site another example.
Belgium has (like other countries) lots of proimising players, since i know Belgian football best, its only natural that speak a lot about Belgian promising football players.
The problem is that most of them stay promising but never become the real thing.
If i sound chauvinistic: i'm very sorry.

I think the key thing is not to buy a promising goalkeeper, it was to buy an established well renowned keeper.

We have promising goalkeepers. I still think Fabianski was brought into the team too early and this has completely fucked up his confidence with some of hid displays. So now every time he goes out onto the pitch his anxiety levels must be through the roof.

Fabianski needs to go off on loan to another club for a while and get some confidence back. I believe he is still a promising goalkeeper.

Anyway if the rumours were to be believed then he was looking at players like Lloris etc not just Schwarzer.

As I said there are many reasons why we didn't get a keeper. Jsut because we are Arsenal and we have money to spend, doesn't mean players will automatically come to us.

Alot of players are happy where they are. not all players want to come to the premiership. Not all players want to play in England.

As I said we are Arsenal we get into the champions league every year which is great. But the reality is we haven't won anything for 5 years and our best player wants to leave. Alot of people won't find that an attractive prospect?

I for one think Arsene was looking for keepers all over the place and when he says it is 'dead' I believe him. The frustrating thing with Arsene is that he does not give away anything, so we will never know actually who he looked at and when etc

And as I said I do believe Almunia could have a good couple of seasons, if he gets his act together.....we will just have to wait and see.

I wouldn't read too much into it gerd - all valid comments.

I think a lot of responses will be tinted with a little frustration.

Thanks my friend...i understand that.

Lots of people won't believe this (coming from a Spurs fan). As a football fan i would like to see Arsenal win silverware...i have enormous respect for Wenger and the way he changed English football (well at least at the top).

As long as Arsenal loose both match against Spurs of course :TWIST:

Does anybody know if they do a large picture of the Arsenal legends mural? I want to get one for the living room :))

Preferably all murals put together as one picture?
