Arsenal Thread

ooh the draw is at 5.

my prediction;

Arsenal
Werder Bremen
Rangers
Fc Twente

:))

I actually hope we get Hapoel Tel Aviv. That would be nice.

Group H: ARSENAL, Shakhtar Donetsk, SC Braga, FK Partisan

Spot on by me

Decent group though I think.

Spurs have a hard group.

Against Arsenal. This is Arsenal thread. :) Why not? Because he's a very polite guy. Gentleman.

Eduardo to score against you guys and not celebrate it properly. I can see that...

Yeah all our old players seem to score against us

I would be happy for him if he did.....as long as it isn't an away goal....and we win ;))

at least they do crap in the remainder of their matches. haa :)
well i hope for the opposite for eduardo, he deserves better fortune.

what difference do away goals make in th group stage? :SMUG:

It'd be nice for him to score and get an ovation at The Emirates.

So he's content with the no 1 and no 2 goalkeepers? His negligence to this problem didn't fail to amaze me.

He has been trying to get a goalkeeper. The problem is that everybody knows we want a goalkeeper so they are putting up their prices.

Wenger always plays down and keeps it completely quite when he is after a player. So we should wait until the end of the transfer window before we know for sure.

If he doesn't sign a keeper he needs to keep the keepers we do have sweet, so he isn't going to publicly say they are shit and he isn't happy with Almunia and Fabianski it serves no purpose.

If we end up with no goalkeeper I will be upset, because I think if we get a good keeper we could do really well this season. But I do think Wenger has been trying to get one this season.

he did say his disappointed with them at the end of last season. you cant expect a tutor to constantly bash his students. he is looking for alternatives but since he cant find any he has to stick to what we have.
i think he should go all out on a great keeper next transfer season.

o come on bobby, shwartz is a 3m player!! a 3m PLAYER!! thats hardly breaking the bank!!

Has the transfer season ended? No. So we still might get him.

does Mark Hughes want to sell him? No. So even if Wenger wants him, it might be impossible....unless we offer lots more than 3million.

There are so many more reasons why we don't get players. We are not a club like Barcelona where players are absolutely wetting themselves to play for us. So it takes a bit more for us to get the top players and we need a top class goalkeeper. Most of them are at bigger clubs than us, so why would they want to leave? or they are under big contracts because their team regard them highly...so they are very very expensive and way over priced.

You also assume that buying a 37 year old keeper is going to be our saviour?

So no 'o come on Bobby's' because it isn't as easy as you think :PP

I am happy that Wenger has at last acknowledged there is a problem and is trying to rectify it, but as usual he will not be held to ransom for it.

I for one would like him to spend alot of money on a keeper, because i think that getting a top class one will mean us winning things, but if it doesn't happen then Wenger will be taking a big risk and we will wait to see if it pays off.

anyone notice Wenger is the highest paid employee at the Arsenal at 115k a wk. That seems wrong should Alumnia get a raise  . I was talking to a mate of mine remembering when Arsenal brought in the highest paid transfer(Reyes) in the winter even though we were unbeaten at the time.Meh things has changed in the last 3 season we been in a struggling position by the winter transfer window and to think bring 1 or 2 players could of resulted in the title maybe.Anyways rant over!

I would pay $3M for Schwarzer if that's what it takes despite his age. For me, he still has a couple more great seasons left in him just like van der Sar did when he was 37 and the reassurance he would give the club at the back and the defense would make a huge difference and justify the $3M price tag.

And if Shay Given is a possibility (it seems like he might be), I would pay what it takes to get him. If that's even $7M or so... so be it! He's worth it! I disagree with Jumbo about him.

Arsenal NEED a top goalie and both of these candidates would help the club tremendously and give it a realistic chance of winning something. Without it, I can't see it to be honest. I'd pay what it takes to get one of them. I'm hoping and optimistic that Arsene and Arsenal will do that. Probably Schwarzer.

From the City side of thing it seems were after Begovic as backup for Hart, Given to Fulham on loan and Schwarzer to you lot....

It's amazing how the papers have completely misinterpreted what Wenger said.

Wenger stated: "I'm not ruling it out but at the moment I'm not in a position to sign anyone," said Wenger. "At the moment, it is all dead."

That doesn't mean that he's not going to sign anyone, it simply means that the negotiations have become extremely quiet and so he "isn't in a position to sign anyone".

Maybe the use of the word "dead" is what has has thrown people. But look at what he said yesterday in an interview:
"[It has been] incredibly difficult, I must say," he said. "It's the first year I've felt [like this].

"The clubs who had players didn't want to sell and therefore there was no movement. I don't know if it's the 25-player squad rule, is it the money situations? But there is just no movement. It's dead."

That's all it is.

Loool Fulham is benefiting from all this!

They got Moussa Dembele! Carlos Salcido for dirt cheap! And now they're gonna get Shay Given!? F'n Cottagers! :D :WORSHIP:

Indeed, good 3 points in the bag. Once again Walcott was amazing and Arshavin saved the day with a match winner.
Diaby was not bad at all today. But I won't get fooled...

RVP went out injured again Dammit! :(

BTW, Sky commentators raised an interesting question: should those towels be allowed? Every throw in is the same story... The refs will have to give Injury and Towel time from now on...
