Arsenal Thread

Fulham have kept more clean sheets than City for the past 2 years and conceded less goals overall.

That can be down to many factors though?

The big thing though is age I think, even if in the past he was better. He is nearly 38 and how long can he keep it up? (in a footballing sense ;)) )

Well that's true but I think both would be a stop gap anyway as Given just isn't good enough if you want to win the league, unless you get some seriously good defenders that is who can make up where he's lacking.

If I was an Arsenal fan I'd rather we got Schwarzer in and then looked at signing one of the best 23-30 year old keepers who was available in a couple of seasons.

If you get Given I'd bet that you wouldn't improve defensively at all.

I disagree we won`t be the same, confidence goes a long way . Alumnia saves are dodgy..ball goes straight at him and he flies like a fish out of water. I call that simulation saving! His 1 punch saves are suspect if he was 20-23 I would be ok with ,but he`s not .

Sebastien Frey. Fiorentina got Boruc, so they have luxury in the goalie department. he is french which Wenger likes.
Marchetti would be very good too.

i am not very pleased at the two CBs which are supposedly on our scope.

I agree with you about his saves, I remember his strange save against Liverpool from the Gerrard free kick. Sebastian Frey would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal, he's confident when catching a ball and is a good shot stopper. But I don't see him moving away from Fiorentina even if they have a Boruc. But he would gel in easily I reckon with all the French speaking players at Arsenal.

I haven't kept up with much of the news, but how about Joe Hart? What do you Arsenal fans think of him?

Joe Hart is Man City's number 1 it looks like now. That is why Shay Given is being said to be wanting a move.

Frey sounds good, but I haven't seen anything of him really.

Yeah I just remembered Hart is now City's number one keeper, I don't see Frey leaving though as he's Fiorentina's number one as well and has rejected offers for the last few years.

Apparently Fulham rejected another offer from Arsenal?

yeah they definately don't want to sell him it looks like.

We will have to put in a bigger offer than 2million to get him. Can't see Wenger going over board and spending lots on Schwarzer.

So I heard Given still struggles with that shoulder injury, he's even flying to Germany for treatment. Schwarzer also carries an injury, according to these news. Not to mention the Japanese kid trialling.

We're so injury-plaged that even our targets get injured

 yeah it's a prerequisite to join the club, you have to have a shocking injury record to be even considered for a move to Arsenal :))

Looks like everyone is scoring except Chamakh! Great game from Arsenal so far, but Blackpool are struggling to play football. I hope Chamakh scores his first goal today though!

And he did it! Very nice header I might add. It's good for his confidence, cause he had just missed a sitter minutes before that.

I'm also quite happy about Theo's hattrick on the day of the re-inauguration of the Clock End! :)

Very good performances from Arshavin, Rosicky, Clichy. Very nice win, even though Blackpool were very unlucky to be in that position of getting a man sent off before halftime.

BTW is it just me or Fabregas didn't seem THAT enthused to be playing? He received a warm welcome but was too casual and almost uninterested. I hope he will be more committed in more competitive matches.

I tough he was very good tbh...I think wenger told him to play smooth...he was playing in DMF...so he made a couple of challenge, he let wilshere be the creative midfielder...I dont know why your worried about fab...its his first appearance of the season and the team was already winning 5-0...

Yeah Theo is getting better n better control on the ball. I`m loving it! Song held the position right ,but I rather him in DM spot. I was impress by Blackpool`s movement on the ball at times they pass the ball very well much respect for trying put up a fight. Wilshire what can be said about him 2nd match as the play maker only Wenger gives those chances week in /out to a player it work well for Fab. :WORSHIP:

Today the Arsenal has played well. Also it is good that today could hammer Chamakh, it was today really appreciable, but could hammer only in the end of a match though could cause a stir and earlier. I hope the Arsenal will play and further, such game of this team really pleases.:RSCARF:

Are you joking there?

If not....We were 5-0 up?! does he really need to be running down every ball and getting stuck in all the time? Especially if he is not 100% fit and has been brought on to get some fitness back.

We are going to get all this from the papers when he has a bad game, saying his head and heart are not there anymore etc etc

The last thing we need before anything, is for people to start reading every little thing into what he does or doesn't do. Lets what for an actual game where he plays the full 90mins and he doesn't give his all, before we even start questioning his commitment.

I would put any money on the fact Fabregas will be trying his hardest to win soemthing with Arsenal before he leaves.

Yeah I think Blackpool do deserve some respect, being promoted to a new league against a top club like Arsenal and getting a man sent off is never going to be easy. They definitely were disorganized from defense to midfield and Arsenal just never gave up for the ball. But it was great to see a newly promoted club keep on trying and even smiling at the end of the game!

And were any of you worried when you saw Van Persie on the ground?

Are you joking there?

Ok, it was just me then

Maybe I was reading too much between the lines. It was his first game at home after a transfer window full of controversy, and I just thought he would be more poised to show it's all left behind.

Anyway, like I said, we'll only know for sure when he's a starter against a top side.

Yes, I was scared when Robin went down. It's already too much, enough injuries!

BTW, about that buried Spurs shirt curse... maybe we could use it on our favour and get back at them by placing a bid for Bale and see if he picks an injury?

Sounds like a plan :))

On another note, well done to Theo. Hopefully he can keep this up and show people what he can do on a consistant basis.

fabregas was poor. he should be flogged back to barcelona ;)

on a serious note who is that fucking retard in match of the day slagging off Theo saying he dont have a footballing brain.

Gary linekar was right to defend him! he cant fucking make perfect/right decisions 100% in a whole match! what a muppet

Good post. I saw quite a few instances where he showed a great footballing brain. Reverse ball to chamakh, great runs into space and use of space. Turn to get away from marker. Plenty of good crosses. It was a lovely hatrick scored with his left and right pegs.

Only thing I do agree is that he needs to do it more consistently and against better opposition.

He is still only 21 and gets a lot of stick from people for some reason?

Theo did great because he had no time to think only react. His flaw is too much time to decide pass , run or shoot . Those odds he loses :SMUG: 1st goal (react) 2nd (react) 3rd :BOP: too bloody right!

That's a stupid cliche created by some dumbass pundit that's repeated over and over whenever Theo doesn't do well, implying he's just a runner... No football brains  These guys should check their own brains first. Go have a look at that stunning movement and pass in a narrow space to Chamakh (the one where Marouane unfortunately didn't score).

About Diaby... Ok, great goal, awesome finish. But I still don't buy it and I don't get it. Wenger always praises players who trap the ball and pass with 2 or 3 touches, not compromising interplay... But for some reason he's complacent with Diaby. He dwells on the ball for too fucking long! It's too much bureaucracy with the ball, too much stamping, authentication of signatures...

:LMAO: I'm on another continent don't even know what the hell is match of the day, and I also said that a few weeks ago. am I also a fucking retard?

Its a easy thing to notice, he does lack a some 'brain' when it comes to pick the perfect play specially for his team mates.
And it isn't a hat trick that made him a football genius, this guy still have a long way to go.
I honestly think that with his pace, ability and opportunities he should have done a lot more by now, just look at his team mates, the brains support he has is ridiculously good, most of them I'd consider geniuses in that department already. And Walcott manage to be completely off their level sometimes.

I guess I'm a little more picky then most of you, and saying he is dumb might be too harsh, but I stick with my opinion.
I'm that picky because I see way more potential and I'd love him to prove me wrong since I really respect the Gunners.

What that pundit guy said ain't that absurd.

It's just a cliche that people love to repeat imo. He has obvious qualities - shooting with both feet, improved a lot on free kicks and his vertical passes are actually quite good. One thing he does manage to cock up frequently is his crossing. Far too many times he crosses without even looking, that same annoying pass through the ground to nobody. But even that shows signs of improvement now.

Just look at all his 3 goals mate. Someone with no footballing brain wouldn't touch that shit! All 3 with composure, especially the 3rd with his left foot. Cut the guy some slack! :)
