Arsenal Thread

Almunia has to be dropped - Wenger really needs a keeper who commands the defence. You can see there is no faith whatsoever in him from our team. He's a shambles and makes some stupid decisions. The starfish flap in the Liverpool game, where Kuyt scored, is an example, as is his 'sweeper' role punting - into touch!

Think Diaby was instrumental today for both goals his height and strength did the business. Denilson`s free kick had so much curve in it I was amazed.Nasri needs to calm down a notch and Arshavin did better when he changed roles. I miss the old eduardo when he finished goals :SMUG: Gallas has been great I say extend his contract... Villa next!

Diaby has so much potential, he just needs to be consistent. So frustrating to see him play so well and then the next game play so shit.

He's a lot younger than he seems though, I always think of him as like 25 or 26 but he's only 23 and has shown flashes of how good he can be. I think Arsene knows that if he persists with him for a few years he could turn into a really decent player. The comparisons with Viera are also damaging as Abou isn't really that type of player and people are assuming he's a defensive midfielder when he isn't.

what a performance by us today. destroyed Aston villa. Today we showed great urgency in our play and defended pretty well too.

Fabregas was excellent and made the difference although i felt we was playing well without him anyway. Our team desperetly needs a proper striker though. Eduardo was again poor.

Agree with jonney there, we need a striker ASAP. A greedy one, hungry for goals and physical as well. Eduardo was very poor, we can't rely on him.

Anyway, I'm delighted with the result :)
3-0 against Aston Villa is not easy.

It was a very tough game up until we scored. We have Cesc to thank for winning the match for us. Came in, did the job and went out, all in just 30 mins! What a player he has become!

Eduardo really worries me with all these WTF! moments

Should be scoring from 8 yards out all day, not playing the ball directly at the keeper.

Against Hull he made a great turn then totally miss hits a side foot shot.

Walcott would finish those chance, Eduardo needs to fix up

Fabiano in January!!!!

we have got to put these games to bed.

We cant keep having great results like that of Villa and then drawing/losing to teams like portsmouth.

COME ON!!!

Yeahh, we need to be incisive, man! No Cesc today. So we've got to finnish it off!

CMON ARSENAL

great result for us!

We have Bolton and Everton both at home in the premier league in our next two games. We need to win. With Bolton going through what they are at the moment and Everton not playing as they were last season etc we should be winning both.

to keep the momentum aswell, we need to win away at West ham in the FA cup on Sunday aswell.

Also we should rest Fab until the end of Jan if we can, when we have a crazy run in!

Ramsey`s goal was great no batteries needed , Song must`ve made an impact on pompey after the game they were all over him giving hugs & such, lovely header imo he was MOTM

we are going to miss song when he goes to african cup.

We are sooo gonna miss Song really! We thought we needed a DMF before the season and still need. I think just a sidekick, not to take Song's first squad place. Cause it wouldn't be easy anyway, he has been fantastic. MOTM indeed.

Th commentators were saying Wenger has Denilson, Diaby or Ramsey to cover Song's absence. Well I'm not sure... They've been playing quite alright lately but none of them is defensive-minded like him.

So the shopping list for Jan must be: dogfighter DMF and a more physical striker. Both of them can be on loan, I don't care... Just to have strength in-depht.

I never knew Vanden Borre was at Portsmouth. He used to be shit hot on FM2005!

Great game for us, but Portsmouth, barring Boateng, didn't threaten.

I have to say Pompey got the best fans - they're fucking legends.

Arsenal has just signed another Brazilian kid, this time from my supported club Fluminense.

http://youngguns.wordpress.com/2009/12/31/arsenal-complete-wellington-silva-signing/

I haven't watched him, but it seems as though he's fantastic. He's just 16, so we'll have to wait until he turns 18 before seeing him playing for us. In the meantime it's up to Arsenal to decide where he stays. Maybe loan to some small club in Portugal or Spain, to ease the impact when he moves to England... like happened with Vela. Or he could stay with Flu, which I would particularly prefer :)

yeah played really well when Diaby and Nasri came on.

Hopefully Diaby and Ramsey can fill in while cesc is out in the next couple of games. Both are playing really well at the moment.

Well done Ramsey :))

Wilshere looked out of sorts. But he is only young and has great potential, cant wait to see him blossom.
