Well if we sell Touré and buy Hangeland we should be fine. But I wouldn't count on it, AW is moving too slow.

I'd say he has to play his CB's in midfield not because he has to many of those, but because he is lacking DM's. And from here it doesn't look like he is signing any DM. But I really hope he is trying to do things quietly. He knows his squad in and out, so he doesn't need to wait for pre-season matches to assess where his team is lacking.

7 cb's?? only 3 of them are good and they are gallas, toure and that new signing. The rest are shit. so shit that some of them are not even good enough for the premier leauge. we are soo fucked. thats our season over.

Senderos isn't that shit and I think will do well if he stays. Song can also be good, but I don't think we will see the best of song until they make up their minds if he is a defender or a midfielder.

I don't think we will be completely fucked, but we will be relying on a player just being great from out of nowhere. A bit like how well Flamini played before he left. I think Song has this potential, going from some games last season. If diaby sorts his head out, he could also be very good. Denilson I still think can be a great player, no matter what anybody says. So we do have the potential, but it is a huge gamble and one where the odds are stacked against us.

If we get another quality defender and midfielder, I think we would have every chance of battling seriously on all fronts. But if Wenger doesn't get those after selling Toure, then it is all up in the air.

toure has fucked off and we are seriously in trouble. we only have two recognised CB's gallas and that new guy. we are screwed for real mate. Song is ok but not a CB, denilson is not a cb and is a shit DM, Diaby is fucking useless and is suppose to be our DM yet wenger plays him as a second striker(major WTF moment).

Either wenger is a dumb fucked up retard or the board are money grabbing whores who are using that 25m to pay for their summer holiday. either way, we have not spent a single peny from that 25m and dont look in doing so. 16m we wil get from Toure but again i bet it will go straight to the board pockets.

The board aren't taking all the money. If anything the money is going on the debt we owe to pay off the Emirates stadium. Alot of our debt was going to be paid off with the sale of the development of Highbury apartments and other developments around the emirates. But with the crash, the income we were going to recieve is very much reduced. Therefore we need to make up that deficit somehow.

I think he probably has the Toure money to spend and thats it, so we will be only seeing one more player if any coming in, which is a bit scary. The Adebayor money I think will be used for Arshavin and Vermaelin transfers retrospectively (As arseblog mentions).

If we didn't have our extremely shit injury record, I wouldn't be that worried. But I know within two months of the season starting, we will have atleast 2 people with a long term injury :ROLL: (We already have Nasri)

I'm not saying we don't need another CB. But Senderos is not shit and Djourou is decent and getting better every game. But it would be nice to have another proven quality defender. We should of kept Toure, then I think we would have been fine.
 
i did say Djourou is decent diddnt i?we will agree to disagree about senderos but at the moment your looking a 4 cb's with only one of them being proven as a world class CB and thats gallas.

Senderos is a fuckin liability at times, yet sometimes he does ok. But the thing is, you never know what to expect from the guy, he has no consistency at all.

Even so, I'd pick Senderos over Silvestre any day. Senderos at least is young and can improve. However, there are reports suggesting Arsenal are ready to offload him at any time. If he goes, our "7 CB's" will turn into 4 really, as Song must be used in midfield, where he's so much better. And the substitutes will be Djourou (the ok defender) and Silvestre (old and rubbish).

Things aren't looking very good for us right now...

I think he will use vermaelen and mix it up between Djourou and Gallas. Making the transition for djourou to take over properly. But we also have to put alot of faith in Vermaelen being really good and hopefully he is, but he needs to adjust to the premiership.

He might start with Gallas and Djourou and ease Vermaelen in? I think keeping Toure, even though we are getting around 15mill would have been much better and would have made me not worry so much.
 
With the departure of Adebayor, I can see Eduardo stepping up to the plate and having a blinder.

Up front is the least of your worries.

I know very little of Vermaelen but I'm expecting he's as good as his 10M price tag suggests. AW spots talent from a mile and doesn't like to spend that much, unless he feels the need to. Also, the man was Ajax's captain, so let's just wait and see him adjusting to the Prem.

As for Touré, I agree with you. I would rather not sell him, although you never know if he would show up again this season.

But what is driving me mad is the way Arsenal is reinforcing City with no signs, so far, of investing the money back in the squad.

Toure hasn't been the same player since his bout of malaria, I think we have seen the best of him so its good business. We still have Gallas, Vermaelen, Djourou (who I rate) and Senderos (not everyones cup of tea but he deserves another chance) and Silvestre (who I wish would fuck off). Anyway we HAVE enough at the back.

Hopefully we will make one more signing this summer and it will be the DM we are all waiting for.

I had a dream last night we got Flamini back from Milan and it was so vivid I actually awoke believing it was true :).

We dont HAVE enough at the back, we never did have enough at the back last season. once either gallas or toure was injured, we was fucked the key here is STRENGHTH IN DEPTH, on paper our defense is a fucking joke with gallas the only proven CB in the premiership.

unless we buy a new CB and a new DM we are fucked.honestly i would LOVE TO BE WRONG. i would love to see this team packed with children beat the shit out of manchester united and the likes. i would also love it if these kids lift up the premiership crown but i know realisticly that is not going to happen. far from it

They are not kids anymore. most of them have quite alot of experience now and hopefully it will show this season. It has to show this season!

If we have no injuries, I think we have a good chance of contending for the premiership with this team, without buying another defender or DM. But we need a bigger, better squad, because if the last 6 years have shown us, we ARE going to get injuries.

I think players like denilson and song will suprise us this season. Also I think Senderos will aswell, if he stays.

When does Wenger cared or focus on defense? he`s more into attacking imo Wengers looks more into agility rather than height. He rather have CB w/ attacking mindset then a defensive one. Im not convinced in the Mid or upfront. Fab needs a partner (flamini is gone and dusted-fook`em) Robin / Eduardo are closer to the injury news on the Arsenal`s Injuries then staying fit on the pitch.The only hope I can say is AW still holds the Magic hat! and I`m just as excited to see what he pulls out. Will it work? maybe...will he shock us, most definitely. In FIFA 09 I put Clichy as a CB it works :LOL: not sure in real life though

Last season United had a major injury problem in defence yet we survived (well we won the league) and we've only got 3 recognised centrebacks (Rio, Vidic, Evans) and then a few others who can fill in there (Brown, O'Shea, Neville).

You've got Gallas, Vermaelen, Silvestre, Senderos, Djorou, Song and you want more?! Why the hell do you need that many CB's?

You need a destroyer and maybe a winger that's all.
 
yes we physicaly have lost of cb's but so does leyton orient. how many of layton orients cb's are good enough for the premierleague playing in a top side?

Ask the same question with arsenal and i bet the only name many can mention is gallas.

You just named 6 CB's that are all better than our cb's. miles better imo. bad comparison. Only gallas could be compared to your 2nd string of cb's nevermind rio and vidic:CONFUSE:
 
Rio and Vidic are better than most CB pairings in Europe so don't read too much into that. Neville is pretty poor at CB , Gallas and Vermaelen are better at CB than O'shea and Brown is much better at RB in my opinion so I'd have to disagree about all 6 being better.

Gallas and Vermaelen could work out to be a very good pairing, I don't see the problem. Djorou is more than capable of filling in as is Song, who is naturally a defender not a midfielder.

I honestly dont see the problem.
