Arsenal Thread

Word at West Ham is that Thierry Henry could be on his way to Upton Park in January on a £20 million move and Cesc Fabregas is reported to be interested in a transfer to sunny Barcelona and states that he is "Bored of playing in-front of ANOTHER quiet library every-other week." Fabregas goes on to say; "There is more atmosphere in Arsene Wenger's pants than at the Emirates. Bring on the Camp Nou!"

Oh I forgot to say, No Henry, no result :lmao:

Mocking my words... but you forgot, the truth revealed itself agaisnt Bolton and Fulham when you were without your talisman. Obviously every game without henry isnt going to result in defeat, but he is cleary what seperates arsenal from being an average team. Again I apologise if my words are harsh, as I know you are a touchy bunch.

umm so arsenal beat manu with henry?

we can play without henry, he hasnt done much to merit us being a one man team. if we can beat united AT old trafford than we are capable of beating anyone

Yeah you'll defintely win the league and conquer europe because you won one game at Old Trafford without henry! That makes sense. So going by your logic any team that beats Man Utd at old trafford in a league fixture are just remarkable and capable of beating any team in the world?

To say we are average without Henry is a joke!

No doubt he is special, but We have proved on a number of occasions that we are very effective without him.

To be honest When Henry is not in the mood we suffer with him on the pitch as we try and include him in every move. If we take him out, the team have to rely on each other more and have proved they can play with the same style and potency without him.

Henry gaurantees us goals, we need another player to take the burden off of him. In the past we had Pires and Ljundberg with there fair share. The likes of Rosicky and Hleb need to start chipping in.

If the worst comes to the worst and Henry leaves in January (That is the worst case scenario!) - we will still be one of the top sides in the premiership - Not an average team!

Strikers come and go - Even though he is a legend, Arsenal will get another striker to bang in the goals.

I've said it before and I will say it again - the only person I would be devestated if he left would be Wenger.

The only thing that match proved was how shit we could be at odd times, not how good you lot can be without Henry.

We played REALLY well that day regardless of the fact that you played crap. To say we won that day because YOU played shite is laughable, in fact I am laughing now. :lmao: How far up your team's arse are you? It could and should have been 3 or 4 nil and we missed a pen!

 Henry played against Fulham!

He has not been fit this season so a proper rest is what he needs. I would rather he be out for a month and then he can return fit and hungry for goals.

Of course you'd think you played well. If a team plays really shit, the opponents naturally look like they're having the game of their lives.

So you're telling me that if that same team played the current Man Utd who are on form, you'd have played just was well?

Arsenal are poo-poo. They can't even retain the title after they have won it - the pressure gets to them. United fans, stop arguing with the Goons - they haven't even won a European cup! Go pick on the Scousers or the Chavs!

Assuming we put in the same kind of level performance as September 19th then yeah. Have you even given a thought about our tactics that day? Think about that for a minute. Maybe our tactics stopped you playing? We flooded the midfield and we were playing little triangles around your midfield, you couldn't get near us. We stopped you playing your game and at the same time played very well ourselves.

So now you're under the assumption that if you played the way you did that day, you'd have won that match no matter how good the opposition was? Thats just stupid.
Its like when a striker is through on goal and has an easy chance to score. If the striker hit it straight into the keeper's face, the commentators would say "Oh what a great save". No one ever brings up the point that it took a shit shot on goal for that to be a great save.
Its the same with that game. We had to play badly to allow you to play well. Which is why all the talk after the game was about how we screwed up and should have won. It was in our hands, not yours.
Take the Chelsea game from last season for example where we lost 3-0. Thats a game where we lost because they were the superior team, not because we were shit. We could have been great and still would have lost.
I know its hard for you guys to accept but it makes sense seeing how bad you've been this season anyway.

I guess you're right. They're probably just moaning cuz they're more or less out of the title race. I've said what needs to be said so my job's done. Now its up to them if they want to take their lips out of Arsene's arse and realise this.

I despair I really do.

I suggest you re-read YOUR original question. You asked me if Utd had played better would we have played as well? I said yes but never mentioned whether we would have still won the match or not, where did you get that from?

Where was this talk? In the United thread? Most of the papers agreed we were the better team on the day and should have won by more than the 1 goal.

Since day 1 of the season, I have been saying we are not good enough to win the league and that 3rd is the best we can hope for. We are a third of the way through the season and my opinion hasn't changed one bit. Sorry disappoint you but thats the way it is.

What is annoying though is when someone tries to discredit one for your teams' victories by saying it was all down to the losing team playing badly, becuase thats the sign of a bad loser. Just give credit where its due, we won 1-0 at Old Trafford and were the better team on the day, ffs get over it, it was nearly 3 months ago. Shame you can't go unbeaten this season...

what the hell is RuneEdge talking about it "if you played an on form united you'd of lost"

you were "on form", you were undefeated till you played us and we were the ones off form with our best player missing.

we simply stopped you from playing. Simple as.

Wow, your analysis has no bounds. Surely if one team in superior, the other one can be deemed inferior?

SUPERIOR

su·pe·ri·or
–adjective 1. higher in station, rank, degree, importance, etc.: a superior officer.
2. above the average in excellence, merit, intelligence, etc.: superior math students.
3. of higher grade or quality: superior merchandise
4. greater in quantity or amount: superior numbers.
5. showing a consciousness or feeling of being better than or above others: superior airs.
6. not yielding or susceptible (usually fol. by to): to be superior to temptation.
7. higher in place or position: We moved our camp to superior ground.

INFERIOR

in·fe·ri·or
–adjective 1. lower in station, rank, degree, or grade (often fol. by to): a rank inferior to colonel.
2. lower in place or position; closer to the bottom or base: descending into the inferior regions of the earth.
3. of comparatively low grade; poor in quality; substandard: an inferior product.
4. less important, valuable, or worthy: B+ bonds are inferior to AAA bonds.
5. acting or performing in a way that is comparatively poor or mediocre: an inferior observer of human nature.
6. Botany. a. situated below some other organ.
b. (of a calyx) inserted below the ovary.
c. (of an ovary) having a superior calyx.

Ask any man on the street, and he'll translate this simply as inferior = shit.

You'd understand that if your tongue was so far up Carlos' asshole.

Think you'll beat Porto?
Hope you do. We need strong teams to stop Chelsea from winning the CL. If Barca go out, there is only really us, you, Livers**t and Lyon that could stop them from buying that trophy as well. If they won it, it would be a sad day for football.

I think we will go through, not sure how though. I'd take a draw.

Once it goes into knockout its anybody's trophy, money doesn't come into it. Hopefully it will be our turn to knock them out!
