Anth's 23 Mods // Gameplay v6.0 Released

In a gist for balancing changes what I would personally recommend are these

1) For tackling, like you mentioned, they are good for a top defender as a base. But players with bad tackling ability needs to make more mistakes in tackling. (Should make players like Thiago Silva, Tomiyasu, etc stand out)
2) For marking, again like you mentioned, they are good for a top defender/midfielder as a base. But players with bad marking ability needs a reduction in interception and pace at which they mark. (Should help players like Kante stand out more)
3) For dribbling, making agility and dribbling stat should be more pronounced. On the video, you can see how quickly I can turn with a player that has very poor agility and dribbling stat. (Should make players like Saka, Foden, etc stand out more)
4) For passing, as a team top the current passing error is good as a base. But lower rated players needs to make more mistakes when passing, especially driven passes. Also less first time passes for players with poor passing ability. (Should make players like De Bruyne and Odegaard stand out more)
5) For goalkeeping, it's also very good as a base for top goalkeepers but worse keepers needs to be worse at covering and shot stopping.
6) For pace, I think for high speedy players is good as the base. But lower pace players needs to be slower. On the video, you saw how slower players from the League 2 team caught up to me multiple times).
7) For strength, for some reason, player that is lower strength seems to be stronger than player with higher strength. Multiple times player like Haaland got disposed due to strength from a player that is around 70 strength. Haaland has 90 strength as a comparison. So not sure what is going on with that.

All in all, this is perfect as a base especially between a match up with two highly rated teams. With some adjustments this could be the mod that makes FIFA 23 the next best FIFA after FIFA 16 in my opinion.

Personally I didn't face issues like lack of crossing and lack of long shots after playing like 7 matches.

The really big challenge is that the method to create some of the base, is the reason for some of the issues. For example, when I looked at defending, I just looked at improving it as a whole. So I have to weigh up/find solutions, as not all of the changes are attribute based. Do I want to lose what's good overall to try and create more differences.

At the moment I'm trying to be creative in the way I implement the changes so that I can keep the base and build around it, but it could be a long road! I think I've improved blocking and have found a good solution for an element of the defending tonight, but lots more work to do!

for me its really hard to score 🤣🤣 most shoots go over the goal.
Okay maybe i play to short (6mins game) or i am really bad in this game
but when i score its way rewarding.

My games always ending 0:0 or 0:1/1:0

my games too. But its the same with other gp mods as well for me. needs to be trained hard by us to get more successfull. Anyway I like this fact. over the times of 6:5 scores like in vanilla game. :))

I'll keep an eye on this over time too. I may tone it down a touch but I'll see how it plays out over a little bit longer first.
 
What about the sliders with this mod, should be in neutral (50) or can be adjusted?
I recommend 50/50, but adjust as you prefer man. If you play manual then I definitely recommend upping the powerbar slider.
 
I've made a little more progress with first touch between players. Not quite there yet with the balance, but definitely have created a difference between the good and bad now. The challenge is a lot of the 'glue' removal is physics based and not attribute base, but I think I've found a way that's helping. I want to keep the best of both worlds, so balance may take some time..

No need to hurry up things! It needs time oc. Glad you always report what are doing and what you are aiming about. Keep this up!
 
Love this gameplay, i always look for a slow gameplay mod and i love the pace of yours, its perfect to me :APPLAUD::APPLAUD:i do notice the CPU as mentioned doesnt cross much, as i have only seem them cross very short (i will attach videos).

If you can get the crosses under control and tweak it a bit more, for sure it will be my favourite


what patch is that for turf and banners?

Great to hear! Working on it a lot at the moment to try and refine and add some more depth to it.
 
Whats really annoying in Fifa default GP is when you pass the ball you really CANT pass the ball through a CPU player, its like a magnet.
And when the ball hits the CPU its a little bit like glue.
I am not sure if this would be solved some day with modding?

Yeah I know what you mean about that. I've done a lot of work in that regard to free up the ball, create deflections etc, but there is still that instance where it sticks to them in certain scenarios. I hope to look at that element down the track too.

I wish they made it a combination of Interception stat and Ball Control. But that magnet you are referring to in vanilla FIFA is very scripted. It doesn't take account of any stats. Definitely one of my least liked moment in game.

I did some sprint speed test and acceleration test between Mbappe and some 40 years old goalkeeper and for some reason, the 40 years old goalkeeper is very fast and almost matches the same speed both in acceleration and sprinting with Mbappe. Only happens with your mod. Was this intentional to cancel out certain behavior or is it accidental?

I know what’s causing it. The setting is there for defensive reasons but I don’t want it to be levelling the pace up like this. I’m working on a way to adjust, think I know the way I can get around it.

Yeah the line is so thin between having aggression and destroying balance there.

Yeah it’s not just aggression, it’s about solving the issue of simply being able to ‘burst’ beyond defenders far too easily just by sprinting (on all levels, against all defenders). If you get a bit of a sprint (which has a very predictable rhythm) and with a quick twist you could pretty much get beyond anyone at any time. It’s been this way for a few years on fifa and it’s a huge issue that I wanted to solve with this mod. It’s a game breaking problem for me and it’s the reason I’ve made a lot of decisions to get to where I have (which is a place where you have to consider everything a lot more in build up).

Even that touch when sprinting is designed so irrespective of who has the ball that you can’t just mindlessly sprint yourself beyond thinking with the ball. It needs balancing though for sure, but I definitely don’t want to throw that aspect out. What I’m working on, is maintaining it, yet balancing for good/bad players and their abilities so that it’s more measured. Sounds simple enough, but it’s proving to be a razor thin line. As soon as that easy ‘burst’ is back, I lose interest in the game.

Update on the mod - I've made progress that I'm really happy with regarding individuality in every aspect (including keepers). This is without losing the identity of what I was going for. The next update will have a lot more depth than before. Testing and tweaking but I think I'll have a release soon.

Do you get that burst issue in Paul's latest gameplay mod? I think he managed to fix it without losing the speed discrepancy.
 
*RELEASE - v3.0*

This is the biggest update so far. Loads of changes relating to player/team/context differentiation as well as lots of other small tweaks and adjustments. These differences should be noticed on different players/teams right through - from the very best, to mid, to the lowest teams. In my time testing they create for matches that play out very differently from each other with different styles needed depending on who you're up against. There's a lot to balance here and I've done the best I can for now, but I'm sure there will be some refining as we go.

I've worked a lot on balancing out some of the other issues and adding some nice new things as well. Overall it should be a much deeper experience now, while still keeping the idea I had for the mod.

I won't list everything but I hope you enjoy! If you give it a go, try playing a few games with some different rated teams. In regards to that first touch - I've tweaked it and you can be much more effective with better players, but you still have to think about when you decide to push that sprint button. It's a risk/reward/stylistic system by design.

As I always say, it's still a work in progress of course, it's not perfect - but I'm happy with this as a building block.
