Aliens: Dark Descent

Just about to finish the first mission (the one after the tutorial), the game is pretty unforgiving. Only autosaves available here and there. You cant in go gung ho because if you are engaging with the aliens, the whole hive is coming after you, its like the wanted meter in GTA. So better to sneak around and try to spare your squad from conflicts while you still have to explore and gather resources besides completing the objectives. Also you cant pull out and drop in your squad to play it safe all the time as the team then needs recovery in medbay and you have to skip days. And in the meantime the infestation is increasing, meaning more aliens around by the days go by. And i heard there is a "time limit" overall in the game untold in the beginning, meaning the planet will explode after X amount of days. :JAY: On top of this the mood is spot on. Best AlienS game i played since AVP2. And what a refreshing new take on it with this genre to emphasize the strengths of what can be done with the franchise.

Yes. The graphics are ass. Sorry but this looks the same with more pixels and better lighting. Its 0 facial movement in this game.

On ps4 it is solid 30fps and i encountered some bugs too. Killed aliens froze mid animation and their bodies stays around. Once i had to reload a savepoint as somehow my objectives got mixed around and the game soft locked on me and it never picked on the very next objective. Other than these on ps4 it is ok technically.

By the way it has the og APC from the movie but you still only can carry 4 marines just like the beginner APC which emphasizes it can only carry 4 person? I thought you would be able to put the entire squad and while keeping the 4 squad in game set up at least swap marines on the spot falling back to the APC. Or something.

Will finally give it a go tonight I hope. Aliens been my favourite scifi/action/horror movie ever, it exactly looks like my dream game. Really, really, really hoping it will click.

On the last mission now just took a week break from it as friday i played it til 4 in the morning.
But i have to say there are some annoying bugs but thankfully the auto save is there.
- had a couple of crashes but only at one exact same point
- sometimes the game softlocks itself, ie i did the objectives in a different orther and one of them the game so did not register as completed so i had to go back to the spot to trigger its completion
- the alien ai RNG feels like most of the time just wants to screw u over

Hopefully they patch these bugs out and balance out the ai. Thanks for the update I appreciate it.

I have a huge backlog plus Jagged Alliance 3 which can easily consume all your free time. I also got the Ratchet and Clank game on PC for the kids so I'll wait for more patches and a sale for this one.
 
I completed it on easy or normal mode? Dont remember. The very few missions were very hard, learning curve possibly and the fact your marines are pants in the beginning. But i made through having no marines losing. So here is my final squad. But i wonder on harder difficulty how many would have left.
