I had no idea that player traits existed in FIFA until someone replied to a message I posted about how much I missed them after playing PES - that kind of tells you how I feel about it in FIFA (i.e. they make no difference, in my opinion, especially when the AI control them)...
Individual player "feel" aside for a second, in PES, if you buy players that don't fit your system, you at least get punished for it with a team spirit deduction (or there being no change), which in turn makes all of your players more difficult to control. It's not the best implementation, but I'd prefer that to the way it makes no difference to anything in FIFA.
In PES, when I let go of sprint, I can dribble with certain players, but absolutely cannot with others. In FIFA I don't feel any more (or less) able to dribble with anyone, but maybe that's because I'm just moving the left stick as opposed to using the "trick moves" (which I despise). All I know is, I don't feel any difference.
That being said, long range goals feel great to me in FIFA this year, because they're never a sure thing. But that's mass-variety rather than unique-individuality...
