What does the star on top of the badge mean?
I have seen it on some club logos but don't understand what it means, any1 care to explain?

I think that symbolizes the conquest of 10 championships. I think it because president Luis Filipe Vieira announced next Benfica kit will have 3 stars on the top of the logo symbolizing the 31 titles.

in italy every club is allowed to put a star on its badge for each 10 scudetti (championship titles) won.

so inter (15 scudetti) and milan (17 scudetti) have 1 star, while juve (27 scudetti) has 2 stars.

though Milan have the right to a world club star too I think?
it's not a star, it's a badge :))

In Germany you get 1 star for three titles, 2 for 5, 3 for 10 and one more for every following 10 Bundesliga titles (the one's before the league was founded are taken out of account). Meaning Bayern would have the right to put a fourth star over their badge after their next league triumph. They technically already have 20 titles, but one was achieved before 1963.

National teams wear one for each won World Cup.

Marseille wears one for their CL triumph.
teams who won the CL five times or for three consecutive years are entitled to wear a special badge with the pot and the number of titles gathered. So far those are: Real Madrid (9), Milan (7), Liverpool (5), Ajax and Bayern (4)

Where did you heard that?

Amazing how much Juve have underachieved in Europe, considering how you have dominated Serie A

if u take a look carefully, u'll realise they did it also in europe.

there is just 1 team who reached more CL finals than juventus in the last 20 years (milan).

they reached more finals than liverpool, real madrid, barcelona...

they were very unlucky in the final matches (lippi played 4 finals but won just once)... and they almost always failed the last effort.....

but still, considering the overall performances (from the preliminary matches to the finals), they're the 2nd team in europe, just one step behind milan (considering the last 20 years).
:))

There were other clubs dominating other leagues as well ... stronger leagues at the time. So what? Only one team can grab the pot, doesn't mean all the others "underachieve".

So, did Juve remove one star, when, you know, they were stripped off the titles?

abhi! this is mean!!!
however they didn't have to, coz they had 29 scudetti (and the 3rd star comes with the 30th scudetto).

Juve should be winning the thing, and conisdering how much they dominated the league when the CL was the EC

By saying EC, do u mean "european cup"?
coz with the old format, the champions league was called "coppa dei campioni" here in italy. but i just realised i never knew the original "european name" of the old competition format.:SS

LARS RICKEN!!!!!

Sorry, I thought I'd add this random name from CL past final after Juve were brought up, seeing as West Ham have about as much chance as gaining stars on their shirt as Heather Mills has winning the world hopscotch championships....

Heh, then im not surprised, i thought only Rangers had that many titles in Scotland but since Celtic possesses almost the same number, it means the league is too regular and will either got to one side or the other. So for me it doesn't count (for the star thing lol).
Any other club with that many titles won?
