Time for the return of the Home Internationals?

With there being no representitive from the British Isles at Euro 2008, will England finally open up to the idea of this tournament returning? It's only "The FA" who are against this.

Sadly i do not think the FA will ever agree. Could you imagine if they fail to win it?

Plus it will always be looked upon as "were only here because we failed to qualify and ain't bothered about winning"

I can't imagine too many people would be against it, I would love to see it. But as Urbanspy said above, it would be murder when England didn't win it.

We're going to need something of relevance to keep us occupied until 2009/2010, though.

Bloody hell, we're not going to be in an international competition until 2010, that is scary.

Nail on head. Even if "The FA" decide not to participate, I think the rest of the countries should go ahead with it anyway.

Well isn't that what they're doing?
Now that England aren't doing fuck all next year
then it would be a good idea for them to take part.

Wouldn't Scotland be better aiming a bit higher than playing England? We need to test ourselves against better teams for the World Cup. Ain't no use playing England then playing far superior teams like Liechenstein or Macedonia, we wouldn't be prepared at that level.

I think Sky TV, the Breweries and the Bookies will be desperate for this to happen. They will have counted on making a mint next summer and are now looking at a big black hole. I'm sure they'll be having a word with the FA, and when money is involved, the FA always listen.

I'm not bothered either way to be honest - quite happy not to have to watch England for another 9 or 10 months.

Northern Ireland ... Still British Champions

There`s a flood warning out for england tonight due to wales scotland and ireland pissing themselves lauging....

no offence intended just avin a laugh ;)

I don't want to see the return of the home internationals. Pointless tournament - it would be just like the 6 Nations in rugby which I personally can't stand. If England are not good enough to play in proper tournaments like the European championships and World Cups then it's tough titty. Obviously nations like N. Ireland and Wales will favour these tournaments because of the chances for them to qualify for major tournaments are slim.

No offence intended to any nation in this post by the way. :)

Great, just great. In a follow-up to your earlier link Foxtrot...

LOOK AT THIS

They going to go ahead without us. Bastard fucking FA.

Thank God. As it is I can't stand the pointless international friendlies that just result in injuries to key players in our supported clubs. The home nations would just be a waste of time, I mean come on, would you really get that excited about England winning it? I wouldn't. (Yes an arrogant attitude to have but I am English after all. ;))

It's not really "friendlies" though. It's a competition with purpose. I can't imagine a Scotland vs England game being friendly. These teams will want to win this.
