Then & Now. When did you join Evo-Web?

London & Milan
AC Milan
I've 'known' some of you guys for years, so thought it'd be nice for members to post when they joined EW and what they were up to, and then what they're up to in their lives now.

I'll start :)

Then
I joined Evo-Web in December 2002 (10 year anniversary right round the corner). I was 14 and was in high school in Toronto. I had acne, was obsessed with playing football, PS2 and WE editing, and I wanted to be a graphic designer.

AC Milan is on top of Europe with a CL win in 2003.

Now
I've graduated from University, and now I work at a digital creative agency in London, not as a designer. Life's good. I've also converted to FIFA now.

AC Milan is weak and lacks direction and a backbone.

I joined in 2003 it says, but I was here before under a different name, can't remember what it was (Something like Donkey punch or something)but only fleeted in and out under my other name.

Then

I was in the middly, but closer to the end of uni in Edinburgh studying Social Sciences and was 23, never knew what I wanted to be. I was also trying to mod whatever PES was around at the time and used up about 50million discs to finally do it :))

Arsenal were doing amazing, winning leagues, FA Cups and being INVINCIBLE!!!

Now

now 32, living in Israel with my wife and trying to find a good job over here, enjoying the sunshine and a new chapter in my life. Also moved over to Fifa.

Arsenal haven't won anything in 7/8 years and it is all rather depressing.

Then:

I joined in May 2003. I was 17 and spent almost every free minute editing PES on PS2. I remember I had a hard drive in my PS2 via the network adapter thing that you could add on the back! It did save me a shit load in costs of burning discs though. Charlton were in the Premiership and had their highest ever finish, 7th.

Now:

I'm 26 and engaged to be married next year and we have our own house. I work as an IT Field Engineer and drive round all day doing very little! Charlton are now in the Championship and won't get promoted back to the Premiership for a few years at least. I now very occasionally play PES, but spend every free minute playing Football Manager.

I joined in 2001, i think (it shows on the left of this message). Edit: it was 2002, i was wrong...
By then my favourite team was RWDM, a team that doesn't exist anymore (and you won't believe it, but the signature that definitely meant the end of my favourite club was my wife's signature).
I then had one daughter who was one year old and worked in council/social housing.

Now:

As a football fan i had the 'luxury' to choose a new favourite club, i went for Racing Genk (because the last good player from my favourite club went to Genk and because i had lots of contacts in Genk for work) and Spurs (because i love underachievers).
I have two kids now (9 and 12) and both are football freaks and are really good at it.
Professionally i still work in social housing and i'm currently responsible for everything concerning sociale housing and welfare.
When i joined i was 38, which was kind of old, now i'm 50 and feel younger than ever...

I like FIFA too, but i'm not sure what i prefer PES or FIFA.

Great thread :TU:

Then
September 2005, I was 21, 2nd year in college, I joined because of PES5 PC stuff, everybody in brazil's PES community was talking about evo-web editing scene, so I joined.
Quickly I fell in love with the deep talk threads, such as delperio and PLF, my first post was a PM cause I didn't even knew how to activate the account. Now that I looked in the PM archive it was on February 2006, so took me a while to start posting. It was a message asking delperio for a Option File
Later in 2008 I start editing graphic stuff for PES6 cause I was freshly graduated in graphic design, but had no good job and nothing better to do, everybody was still playing the old school game, so I got in again and it lasted as long as I was broke and could not afford a better game  not really the game was quite decent, not PES5 quality, but decent enough to last a few years.

Oh the chatbox has a big part in my evo-web life as well, I'm often there just posting random shite until...

...Now! Oh yes brazilian invasion in the chatbox!!! Yes we did it Honome
In 2013 our plan is to make our names bold and become chatbox gods, that bans everyone who doesn't speak portuguese.
About pes/fifa they don't exist for me, sometimes I play when a friend have it, but thats it, the games are so samey I can play them with my PES5 'one/two pass' skill and still score, they just don't have any appeal to me. Maybe next gen...

Had to wait for an oldie to post....Thanks Gerd!

Joined 2004 ,a refugee from playing FIFA.Was already hooked on game editing & modding.
Now
8 years later,My wife has had much treatment and recovered from breast cancer,we have a lovely 6 year old Grandaughter, & with a grandson due in February, ( PES partner ).Have been in the steel industry man & boy 40 years.
Always will be footy mad, always will be young at heart.

Then
Joined 2003 after I found a patch for WE6 FE.
Since then I patched and edited all PES and WE Versions in good old PS2 days.
Played PES since 1997 (ISS Pro).

Now
In the meantime I got a new job, got married and now have a 2 year old son, who is already addicted to soccer :)
Still I enjoy PES, but I miss the feeling of good old times.
As I have no time anymore in editing by myself, I am looking for great OF :D

Then
Joined 2001, 22 years young, after visiting showusmiracle.com (le sigh!), I think. Was addicted to Winning Eleven modding on PS2 and released some main menu music patches under the nick "Kezz" because I actually thought Mateja Kezman was a decent player back then ;) Soon later I grouped up with a bunch of really great lads (Antiz, Coopz, Zygalski (miss you!) and some others) to create the infamous Evo-Web Option Files. Fun times. Helped Chris and Mart on banning bad people and constantly improving the site which eventually brought me into the position of teh admin.

Now
Found out that Kezman actually sucked and changed my nick. Quit editing once the PS3 and 360 got released and also quit playing PES soon after. Converted to FIFA and truly believe that FIFA 12 is the best human vs. human football game ever made. Although I lost my appetite for PES completely, I still care very mucho for this site and all you guys.

Personally, several things changed. I moved from Flensburg/Germany to Hamburg a few years ago and am employed in the television/media industry. No kids, women still come and go.

Then

October 2004 (really? I would've thought earlier). 14 years of age. Year 9 I think. Really enjoying school, had a good set of mates and life was grand with not a care in the world. Think I came here from PES Insight because of the PES3/4 editing. Was just in the process of putting Spark, biker_jim and kEL's kits into my game.

United were in transition. Just signed Rooney but still had to play the likes of Djemba-Djemba, Bellion, Kleberson and Smith. Nowhere in Europe, way behind Chelsea in the league and we'd lose out on the FA Cup to Arsenal after battering them and failing to score at the end of that season.

Now

23. Can't believe I'm 23. Swinging between severe depression and moments of absolutely nothing. Stacking shelves for a living after making a bunch of bad choices and have no real direction. Give me a few games of footy in decent weather and a few beer garden trips and I'll be alright. Still have 99% of the same mates close to me so that's all good.

United are about to win the league, barring the still very possible, horrible collapse à la last season. Looking forward to the summer to see if we bother to actually sign a midfielder.

Matherto, I strongly advise you to speak to your GP - it's nothing to be ashamed of, depression is a real thing that can be treated medically.

One of my best friends throughout school had depression, he ended up not wanting to socialise much, had no motivation for his studies, was generally miserable a lot of the time and he dropped out of sixth-form...
He decided to go to the doctors about it a year later (a very unproductive year, unemployed and pretty much given up) and within 6 months he was far more level-headed, optimistic and gained the impetus to do something with his life. Within 18 months he had completed a college course and got a place at a decent university.

I know university isn't exactly a long-term plan within itself, but I saw a remarkable change in someone I've known for 8 years or so within just a few months of him seeking help.

I am not trying to come across like a dick here, I'm concerned is all and I just want you to do what is best for you. Don't think that asking for help is a sign of weakness, the act of facing your issues head-on and tackling them shows more courage than going along with them and suffering the consequences.

I'm sorry if I am out of line here as I don't know you personally and I only have your posts here to go by, but I assure you that my intentions are good.

Joined 2002, January.

Joined as a 29 year old, but a big kid at heart, came to speak about for me the best game around at the time. Still at same home and now married just over 8 years and now have a 7 year old daughter who growing too quick for my liking.

Still regard this place as the first real Internet home.

June 2003...exactly 10 years ago, wow. a decade! 16 years of age back then...
Got into PES, searched for the best community, found this. Got into editing, did a shitload of kits, one stadium, kind of got fed up with it and stopped when the "nextgen" versions of the games got released...had a good time but i would not want to go back doing it...time consuming!

living with my parents back then, had no real idea what to do with my life, dropped out of high school and just lived from day to day.

Now

Still love football, the games - meh - not so much. Looking back 10 years i expected them to be progressed much further and capture football in a more realistic fashion. oh well. still spending most of my "gaming time" (which is much less then before) with football / sports games

personally a lot of stuff changed, my dad passed away, sold our house, i moved a couple of times, decided to finish high school (did so and became best of my class, still proud considering at certain points i regarded myself as not smart enough), got into university wanting to become a lawyer, quickly noticed it was not meant to be, switched to economics and am pretty happy right now, hope this pans out, i am not the youngest anymore and should probably finish this :p got a girlfriend i am very happy with since 2009 and we moved in together, everything's solid and i am basically very happy.

all in all things could be much much worse, i missed a lot of opportunities due to being lazy, not motivated, spending too much time playing games and taking life not serious, but i am on the right track right now...even though still lazy, haha.

on to the next 10 years!

THEN:
Summer 2005, I was 20 and in the middle of the battle for graduating in Engineering (in order to learn a lot of networking and to become a sysadmin).
Single by that time, already a PES addict (I was already editing kits even if I didn't post any until 2007 in here).
I watched quite every AC Milan home match @ San Siro and supported Volley Bergamo (I was there when they won the CEV Cup in 2004).

NOW:
28 now, still in the middle of the battle for graduating in Engineering (I just can't get my head around maths) yet I'm not giving up.
Found a new work a month ago, now I'm finally working as a sysadmin in a small company near home (after 5 years of doing EDP and customer care for a bank).
Engaged and already talking about marriage (help appreciated: please suggest me some ways to get out of danger).
Still supporting Volley Bergamo and AC Milan (I had the joy to see both of them winning the National Championship in 2011) but not going to the matches anymore, and...
Still editing PES kits even if I switched to FIFA. I just can't leave PES6 :)

TO DO LIST:
- Maths. I will eventually defeat you and graduate (even if it's unrelevant at the moment as I'm already doing the work I wanted when I was 20).
- Keep this work > start saving money (this time for real) > buy a house > go there with my GF (well, she'll become my wife sooner or later so I just won't be able to keep her out of my house anyway).
- Patiently wait for a year in which both AC Milan and Volley Bergamo win the Champions' League again (I was soooo close to see it happen in 2005, damn Liverpool  but it happened in 2007), then my life would be perfect.
- Kids? What are KIDS?

I left football since I got injured a serious one , than I was sick and I wasnt winning anything from it , team lost their sponsors and we start to dont get paid and shit like this happen , this year my team got relegated , for a first time since I remember , players still dont get paid good and its really shit !

This site was the go-to for patches for from (I think) PES4 onwards. I remember being blown away by the amount of work these people would do for free that I could then get onto my PS2. I even had a XPort thingy for transferring files from PC to PS2.

Going way back, the site that first got me involved in PES would have been ShowUsMiracle.com. I remember performing quite a few fistbumps when I had 4 or so of my goals uploaded, I've still got them saved to my PC and will watch them whilst performing honourary fistpumps from time to time.

Growing up is odd and I spent a rather large volume of this process on the various PES sites that were knocking about 11 years ago, namely ISS Extreme, PES Insight and PESFan before they were official - seems like eons ago now.

Great Thread - this brings back a lot of memories!

Then
Joined Evo-Web in March 2003. I was 21 and in University. I joined in the midst of the patching craze with WE6:FE (which I still think is the best iteration of the series). I think I created some 'kits' myself actually.

I was football crazy and loved Liverpool. I still remember the 2005 Champions League final (sorry Milanista!) and actually crying after the game. Yes, that happened :-s.

Maybe it was a different mindset back then, but I defnitely had the case of evo-web addiction. The random crap thread was legendary with some of the most hilarious banter and image submissions about. There were quite a few characters (especially the dutch contingent) - some of whom are still here - but many have left. Even though we mostly haven't seen each other in person, I felt like I 'known' many of you: as strange as it sounds.

Now
Had a few up's and down's in my life with relationships and whatnot, but trust me, things will get better. I'm now living in Manhattan, NY - and been doing so for the past 3 or so years.

My passion for football has dropped somewhat. I can't put my finger on it, but I feel it's frustration on how the game is being run these days. Although I still support Liverpool, my respect for them have dropped somewhat especially from how they dealt with the whole Suarez racism issue.

I do like how Evo-web is still keeping it real. It's rare to see an internet community remain together for so long: reading this thread has bought me some joy from 'seeing' some familiar faces. I often think what it would be like to have a meetup and putting some faces to the names.

Still, some things never change. I remember browsing evo-web at really late nights whilst catching up on 24. It's 3am now, I'm browsing evo-web and I have Breaking Bad in the background :APPLAUD:

I remember those days Rocky. :) Seems like a lifetime ago!

Good to hear from you again.

I hope bigstuie is alright.

http://forums.evo-web.co.uk/member.php?u=117094

He was suffering from cystic fibrosis and I checked his profile recently and he has not been here since 2010.

CF despite advances in delaying the outcome and advances in understanding the molecular mechanisms of the disease still has a dismal prognosis.

I hope he is still around and courageously fighting it. Always had a lovely sense of humour despite what he was facing.

YNWA.
