Out in a week is anyone getting this?

I thought the first one was brilliant and this has loads of changes to it so i'm definitely gonna get it

Here's some info and vids

Development

Test Drive Unlimited 2 will feature dynamic weather effects, day and night cycles, and vehicle damage. The game will take place on Ibiza. After enough gameplay, players will be able to return to an expanded and updated Hawaii from the previous game.[5] Test Drive Unlimited 2 will feature SUVs and a co-op game mode in which one player drives while the other player reads the map.

Gameplay

There will be a storyline in Test Drive Unlimited 2 to follow for the player. To progress through the game, the player has to earn experience points to level up through the 60 levels. These points can be earned via 4 categories:

* Competition (racing, completing challenges)
* Social (making friends in the game, race against other people, joining clubs)
* Discovery (discover all roads, take photographs of specific locations, find all car wrecks)
* Collection (buy cars, houses, furniture, clothing/basic need's)

Location

The game will be set on two islands: Ibiza, and Oahu (the setting of the first game). Both islands have been modeled very accurately by using satellite data. Each island has both asphalt roads and off-road routes, translated to roughly two-thirds of all roads being asphalt roads, and the total amount of roads exceeds 3000 kilometers. The islands have new challenges and races to earn extra cash, and also the roads on Hawaii have been modified to make the location interesting again for players who played the previous game. Hawaii has also been renewed graphicswise to stay up to date for the new game, and each island will feature the 24-hours cycle and dynamic weather.

The player can travel between the two islands by driving to the airport on one island, where a cutscene shows the character taking off as a passenger on a plane, flying to the next location on the other island. This air-commuting ability needs to be unlocked by reaching level 10 out of 60 in the game.

Vehicles

New vehicle classes are included, such as SUVs for off-roading. Not all vehicles are obtainable however; clubs can get exclusive club cars when reaching high ranks. These exclusive vehicles can be driven by any member of the car club, and not by players from other clubs. The original game sported motorcycles that were quite hard to control, let alone race. They will not be present in the game at first, but may be added in later on.[7]

Vehicles feature cosmetic damage which does not affect the behaviour and technical aspects of the vehicles. There is no option to manually repair the vehicle; the car may get fixed by resetting to the road or visiting a house. Rainfall does affect the handling of the vehicles though, and also influences the appearance of a vehicle as rain washes off dirt. Eden has also spent years working on a new physics engine to ensure each vehicle has its own driving behaviour. New details and functions have been added, such as different headlight modes, turning signals and working convertible roofs. There is also a vinyl-editor which is said to be similar to that of Forza Motorsport.

Really enjoyed the first one on the 360. Looking forward to this too. I hope they have made the handling more sim like though.

If anyone really wants this game now then Simply Games are shipping already:

I don't know how they can get away with dispatching this early (as the official release date is the 11th) but a couple of people over at AVForums have the game and have given their impressions:

Posted at AVForums:
I'm getting a refund for my copy now, the problems are too annoying and I've had it confirmed from the dev that (unbelievably) there is no Dolby Digital/DTS.

This was their reply:

"It was intentional On Ps3, you can use 5.1 pcm with hdmi, but optical do not have the bandwidth and sadly, you have to do the DB/DTS compression yourself. They said "no"!!!"

I've tried with HDMI and optical but couldn't get 5.1 with either, but this is the list of problems that have made it so annoying to play so far for me:

No 5.1 audio.
Glitchy/poor AI.
Average visuals.
No individual settings for driving aids (they're lumped into sets)
No custom controls.
Buggy clock.
No custom soundtracks.
Poor wheel support.
Poor avatar control when playing with a wheel.
Poor photo mode with no ability to export screenshots.
No simple way to sell a car from your list (like TDU1, you have to try and buy a car you can't afford to activate an option to sell).
No way to get rid of cars that you win if you no longer want them (they don't appear in the sell list).
Doesn't sound too good really. I had this on pre-order at ShopTo but decided to cancel as it doesn't sound like a £40 game to me, especially as there's no demo to give it a try first. I really loved the original but TDU2 sounds a bit disappointing.

I think I'll wait for the inevitable price drop and pick this up when it's sub-£20.

saw this for sale at my local shop 2 days ago
also had a rent copy but already rented and no way i am going to spend more than maybs 25 on this one

videos make it look really bad i am afraid

Videos don't look great.

I had the first on PC, played it for a few weeks and enjoyed it before getting my new laptop which didn't handle it too well.

It'll probably be in a bargain bin for a tenner in 12 months (as with most games), so it would be a total waste of money at the minute!

Well the graphics are fine on the 360 and the 5.1 sound is great so its just the PS3 with problems

As for the game its pretty much like the last which aint a bad thing

The original was a very good game but that was four-and-a-half years ago and I'd like to think the sequel has moved forward in all departments. After playing the likes of Hot Pursuit and Midnight Club:LA I think the bar has been raised for an arcade street racer.

Hugely disappointed. I loved the first game but this feels like TDU's predecessor! Handling is awful, graphics are ridiculously poor, voice acting is shameful, roads are so sparse.

Massive letdown.

funny thing, the more bad things i read the more i want to go out and buy it! just can't be that bad, can it?

bring on shift 2, finally, i need a decent new racer

I'm the same, really want to try this but most of the impressions I've read have very little good to say about the game. There should have been a demo (which is what sold me the original TDU), but perhaps that in itself speaks volumes.

sorry mates but i played it, and it´s a piece of crap! that avatar mode is just ridiculous, the controls are not customizable, the graphics are so-so, the gameplay is poor, not for me... it´s not better than nfshp or gt5.

Are all you lot on PS3 with this? because the graphics look very good on the 360

If you liked the original TDU you will like this

Nothing much has changed from the last one, its still a free roam car game where you go where you want and and buy what you want, travelling long distances, going in car showrooms, upgrading, painting, buying houses and obviously racing

Well, i gave the game a second chance, and it´s not that bad. Beside the graphics and controls the game modes are fun. Incredible how the hell they make a racing game nowadays with no costumizable controls! I hate playing racing games on R2 and L2 for acceleration and brakes, i always use RS for that. Also, there´s no subtitle, i usually play very late at night with low volume so i can´t understand shit what they´re saying.

The way the voice acting is its a blessing in disguise that you have to play at low volume

This has got to be one of the worst driving games I have ever played.

It felt like this to me the first time i played, but after playing more time i can say the game is good and fun to play. Only the avatar part should be banned from the game, it´s just ridiculous!

I'm enjoying this for some light relief from GT5. I only played about 1 minute using a controller but I can understand where people are unhappy with the controls for that. I'm using a Driving Force GT, which with the settings tweaked a lil has the game feeling fine, arcade but fine.

I'd say with a few friends cruising around together it would be a good laugh, but the Online aspect of it aside from that has been a shambles. Didn't work for the first 3 days, the "casino" aspect still wont work for me, not got into that once since launch and the "Clubs" feature is still disabled as it's broken/glitched and they dont know how to fix it.

Basically the game feels like a Beta at the moment and has major problems with the Online aspect, which is the largest part of the "MOOR" game they've claimed to have created.
