I don't get why he lied...twice.

I think he would of been allowed to go home if he told the truth. A miscarriage is extremely serious and will have IMO, a larger emotional impact on the player than their grandmother dying.
 
Stevie Ireland is well known for not being the smartest tool in the box at City, but still hes been a right Knob here! I wouldnt wish a miscarridge on anyone but to lie about family beeing dead, when the FAI would have let him go home anyway...

He should have murdered them before anyone found out. Make them dead, that would have been the smart thing to do.
