Set Player Settings before match?

whenever i do a tournament with a mate,
and we are separate teams and its somebodies turn to play as the cpu,
we have to start the match then put him in control by that time formations have been made and the only way to change it is to make subs from the start,
isn't ther a way to go to contoller setting brfore going to the formation screen
 
No you have to do it before you select teams..Or during the game by going to Player Settings
