Responsiveness improvement since unticking "Frame Skipping"

screen has only hdmi output, so i plug it to the grafix whit a cable wich has on the one side hdmi on the other dvi

I had some improvements after putting back triple buffering which I had taken out while experimenting. In conjunction with vsync on saves me some of the slow downs.

I don't think there is a response problem with this game. The players are fluid in passing in shooting, unless you are trying to do something impossible in football.

no more stutter since i turned off "frame skipping". HOwever, the slowdowns are evident during cutscenes such as goals and foul reactions. Hopefully this gets fixed someday - I'm content bc gameplay is smooth as butter.

it is foolish to turn off frame skipping unless you have a very good pc, otherwise you will only get awful slow downs.

I have set "Maximum pre-rendered frames" to 0 in Nvidia control panel and this has appeared to help responsiveness.

My only other tweaks are Verticle sync (on) and Triple Buffering (on).

I have disabled v-sync in PES 2010 settings.exe

one touch pass and 1st time shoots are so bad in pes 2010

my 1st impressions about the game was so good and i thought that the response issues were completely disappeared

but after playing the game for about one week , i discovered that that response issues are still there , they are just hidden but the more i play the more i notice them

konami couldn't fix the response issues that were marked in the demo due to the new motion capture systems but instead of solving such issues they increased the speed of the game to just cover and hide them away from ur eyes but they still there

the most item that make these response issues shiny and welll marked are :
1-the one touch passes
2-the 1st time shoots

u can NOT do a one touch pass in pes 2010 unless u pressed the pass button very early while the ball in its way from the 1st player to the second one

BUT if the distance between the 2 players is too small , and suddenly the u see the ball toward the second player it will be impossible to do a one touch pass or one touch shoot (if in front of the goal) so that the player will do an inevitable one EXTRA touch before doing any pass or shoot action

yesterday i did a quich comparison between pes 2010 , pes 2009 and fifa 2009 and the results were really disappointing

although i don't like fifa at all , but i find the response times in fifa were amazing so that i could perform a one touch pass by pressing the button even when the ball is about to reach the 2nd player

also in pes 2009 the response times were excellent and very slightly below fifa 2009

but in pes 2010 the results were so bad

i performed the above tests with different resolutions and i triend to exclude the fast pace of the game that are highly masking the response issue that are hiding inside

Quad Core Q6600 2.4hZ ,4GB RAM. NVIDIA 9800GT the settings were automatically set to frame skip and the game runs smoothly on the highest resolution with no skipping or other problems. Response times are instantaneous.

I get no slowdowns during gameplay, only during cutscenes as mentioned. Even then it's not terrible, but it's noticeable drop in FPS.

ALBICELESTE2010 do you use Vsync then?

hany3 you should try comparing with Vsync turned off also. (Wait for Vertical Sync - OFF)

1-in fact not every one can play with v-sync off as many monitor crt or lcd may experience apparent tearing with pes with v-sync off "i have 3 monitor both crt and lcd and all of them show tearing with v-sync off"

2-turning off the v-sync speed up the game rather than improve the response time
and again speeding up the game may mask , hide , or cover the input lag so that it become difficult to be noticed , but when we come to testing this makes no difference

i repeated the tests with the v-sync of
and sadly pes 2010 was the worst in response times with massive input lag especially actions related to passing and shooting

u can ONLY do one touch pass or 1st time "volley" shoot , when u press the button early before the ball comes to the player otherwise the player does one extra "unnecessary" touch and this may cause to to miss the ball or miss a good oppotunity in front of the goal

well said i will not play pes 2010

@primepeace, No. That would be 2008&2009 ;) It's not a pinball game on my computer.

Also why people who don't like the game just keep posting that they don't like the game but they never leave the PES forums I wonder:)

Yes. you got the point.
I also have a same problem here, it's a real awful slowdown when I turn off the frame skipping.

Problem is that each PC is different , every xbox / console is the same.

By default their is a lot of juggling goes on every year to get the perfect setup.

Half of the posts are from people with low end cards and motherboards, wandering why the game does not run very well for them.
Then as an added bonus they spam Juce to say kitserver does not work.( we know it does! )

Doubt very much that Konami will release a universal fix because the game does work well.

All I know is my game runs and plays superb, and I will still be around the forum when the annual hoo-ha has died down.

Measure the game by the amount of game editors and modders releasing stuff already.I would say its pretty much a big hit.

No delays or lag,I can dribble ( ADMITTEDLY NEED TO PRACTICE MORE ) and do skill moves without any issue.
Thats why I am really delighted with the gameplay , its superb this time round IMO.

The trick is to lower the graphics to what your computer can handle. Vsync on is too tough for my computer so I play with it off, also frameskipping of since it slows the game down. 1280x800 and Medium/Low depending on situation. Works fine.

^frame skipping off? I thought you need a good computer to have it off. And you say those are too tough on your computer. Somebody who knows?

Yes, you need frame skipping enabled to get a good flow and high fps when playing on high graphics. Problem is for me, frame skipping seems to make the response worse, whichever other graphical setting I use. So if I want to play without frame skipping, I also have to lower the settings to a point where the game works fine.

new kitserver whit lod helps a bit, more fluid animations for me
players gameplay set to 0.035
