Responsiveness improvement since unticking "Frame Skipping"

Hey all

Since I've unticked "Frame Skipping" in Settings and set Vsync to on I've found the game to be more responsive, anyone else?

Am running Windows 7 by the way, had to use Powerstrip to set 60hz so I could run Vsync on.

I used D3Doverrider to force vsync; forgot to uncheck frame skipping, which would make sense if youve got a good pc.

Unticking Frame Skipping is always the best thing to do, otherwise you're missing out on some game elements.

Problem is, you have to able to afford it, specs-wise. So everybody should try unticking it and see if their machine holds its own. Nobody would leave frame skipping on as a personal choice.
I don't think it improves responsiveness, but it improves the game as a whole.

After more testing the issue is still there :( Konami really need to sort it out, I hate pressing shoot 3 times to shoot...should only have to press it once and it should be immediate!

having no problems here. scored some really sweet softspot lobs over keeper in 1on1's, more control than in 09 on those. shoot+r1 that is.
running in 1920*1080 vertical sync 60hz high qual. there is some response time in passing, but nothing major like ive seen ppl moan about. not at all like in the demo for instance.

my game runs laggy , i have a hp pavilion dv7 , p8400 core2duo 2,4, GF9600M , 4 gb ram, and windows 7... i tried first at 1400x900 the game ran bad, then at 11xx.... the same, i checked frame skipping .. the same there is no difference... i think it's anything else not my config .. what do you think? i use high details

ps.. the demo runs great with maximum details and maximum resolution

I have found that leaving Frame Skipping OFF, gives me more jagged performance and in the cut scenes I find myself dropping from a smooth 60FPS to a jagged nasty consolesque 30FPS.

The problem with PES is that it is a console game merely ported across. Here, the FRAME SKIPPING option is actually ADDING frames to the game to make it look more smooth. Not taking them away!

I have tried it and found the EXACT OPPOSITE!

you can also activate vsync in the games "setting.exe" under win7, when you reduce the resolution in windows to 1024x... and then change the frequence to 60hz. with that trick the vsync-option in settings.exe is no longer "grey" underlined.

Its more smooth cause frame skipping, as the name says, skips the frames in wich the game is jerking.

So its taking away frames, it feels more smooth coz the jerking is out.

so:
when u havent got any jerking anyways then play whitout frame skipping -> more frames -> more smooth animations

btw the option is made for lower pc's

Iam playing without frame skipping + vsync with D3DOverrider.
Everything is smooth at 60fps, replays, cutscenes at 30fps.

I noticed that replays and cutscenes are supersmooth at 60fps with frameskipping enabled. But then the gameplay suffers for me...

I am going to have to get off the internet....too many clowns talking out their arses. Why I let it get to me I dont knwo but I do.

Look m8.

One of us here knows what they are talking about, the other doesn't! If u play with FRAME SKIPPING ticked, then u will get a solid 60FPS at all times. (at least on my set-up). If (on my set-up) FRAME SKIPPING is unticked, then u drop down to 30FPS.

FRAME SKIPPING TICKED = Much more smoother gameplay cos u get more frames per second u damn clown!

FRAME SKIPPING UNTICKED = Jagged console frame rates. Less smooth gameplay.

As far as FRAME-SKIPPING on PES is concerned, this has always been the case. Yes, the name 'FRAME SKIPPING' may be misleading but that is what it does and if u had even tried it and/or had half a brain, then you would know this very well.

"atleast @ ur setup"

YES MATE U GOT IT
lol

without frame skipping it should be the same fps as whit it
when ur pc is so shity its ur problem

i have 63 fps without frame skipping

arrogant selfish bastard
:BYE:

This is the case for me too,
frame skipping ticked: straight 60fps all the time.
But unlike in PES 09/08,
in 2010 the game runs worse, except for the replays, cutscenes and the 60fps at all time...

So i have to untick frameskipping to get the best gameplay with 60fps and unfortunately cutscenes and replays with 30fps.

I totally know what you are saying because i noticed the same behaviour in previous PESgames.

No need to be so rude... PCs are different...

For me the best setup is without Vsync. This makes the game run at 63fps, which makes it a lot more responsive and faster than with vsync on. I find that the good responsetimes are more worth than the twitchy graphics caused by not enabling vsync. However frame skipping effects things I am not sure.

I HAVE MSI gx610 notebook, and i install pes 2010 and run on everthing high vsync on...
The game is going very smoothly no lag or something like that
i have ati mobility hd 2600 256 ram, 2gb ram dual core 1,7, i use vista ultimate 32 instaled new ati drivers, directx and the game is running perfect litlle problems only with corner or many players inhead of keeper but thats not a big problem because if you set your game on medium setings the lag is gone, medium or high no big deal its same no diference. the most important thing is the gameplay the phisics of the ball and players not the graphic
if you get over this no more stres with the lag, frames /;)) tested

YOU SEEM TO HAVE EVERY ISSUE GOING PRIMEPEACE. MY GAME IS RUNNING SMOOTH SO YOU MUST HAVE UNDERLYING ISSUES SOMEWHERE. PES2010 IS TEN TIMES THE GAME PES2009 IS.

jammie are you saying that you except the game like this so your players are not like robots what settings are you using spread some light to your comments

ok
a small guide here

if nvidia user, update driver, should be atleast the 191.07
set in the nvidia panel pre render frames by cpu to 1
set texture quality to high(if its another)
set antialiasing and filtering to application controlled
set vsync to always off

go to the resolutions(still nvidia panel) and look in the box whit the resolutions
there should be one resolution whit "native" marked

this resolution u set up in the settings.exe
if its a 16:10 resolution check LB and 16:9
no frame skipping(unless u experiance its stuttering then check it afterwards)
and no vsync
+ try medium quality if its still not runnin well

if u have a LCD screen set up 60 hz

thats basically it

test it and write me what u experienced

aqua i play pes 2009 with frames by cpu to 3

you should only need to enable vysync through nvidia

dats how i play pes 2009, whats wrong with pes 2010 i really dont know right now konami need to put there eyeballs in the screen to see players move like robots not smooth enough and the gameplay is too fast that makes it even more dreadfull to see a pass or kick being blocked when its not suppoesed to no no im gona wait for konami its pes 2009 for me now

I need a guide for ATI graphics card. Any suggestions?

hm, some things are the same
but the pre render frames and stuff i dunno
sry
ma latest ati card was ehh after the geforce 6 i think
:p

the newer ones look nice but OT :D

Kjie i think you can use ATI tray tools for the pre-rendered frames setting apparently, from what i read. i havent used it myself cuz the game runs fine on my pc.

@ Aqua and the rest of the community

Hi fellas

I am having troubles with my PES 2010. I am sitting on a i7 920 CPU, GTX 285 MATRIX, 6 GB RAM , WIN 7 machine, wireless keyboard(DiNovo edge) without number pad.

When I start the game ( or even the settings.exe) a strange beep sound/buzz starts (like you are constantly connecting and disconnecting a USB device) :( This affect the game performance ( like it skips frames every couple of seconds for a short period just enough to piss me off and make the game unplayable)
Do you fellas have any suggestions of what might be causing that problem ?
May it be the keyboard?
Or some setting of the Nvidia GTX 285 MAtrix ( I have the latest 191.07 drivers installed for 64 bit Win 7 )
Or my Win 7 x64 Ultimate

I am just desperate I bought this machine just to play my favorite game and I cant.I feel like s..t
( I will try to install a XP tonight see whether this might help)
Any suggestions will be appreciated

Thank you in advance

I'm on a laptop with geforce 8600gt and 2g ram.
With your settings, I get constant tearing on my screen, but then I already knew that. For me it's imperative to have vysinc on, either from nvidia panel or from the game.
Why do you suggest to have it off?

Before trying your settings, I was playing with vsync always on and 3 pre-rendered frames (why is 1 better?) as default. Frame skipping always off. Runs good but sometimes frame rate decreases sligthly (from 60 to 57-58), either on the upper side of the pitch or in the opposition area.
With your settings, I get 62-63 frames (with the odd drop here and there, I think) but the tearing makes it very bad.

What do you suggest? Drivers are the last, 191.56. Res is 1280x800 native.

no idea how it is whit laptops

on my LG 22er screen i have no tearing

the higher the pre rendered frames the more input lag can occur
i tested it and on my pc is 1 optimal
