can anyone offer the template on this, seems the old format doesn't work anymore.

replace "*" with "r" and it gives you:

What happens if you change the "https://" to "http://" ? Noticed it, that the forum sometimes doesn't recognize Youtube when using the https-version.

Yeah just remove the s and they work as normal.

Is it possible to update (or replace) the plugin that embeds youtube videos as is still has the bug that instigated this thread https doesn't embed but http does embed

and also as per this thread it would seem that for those browsing via tapatalk a url posted thus https://youtu.be/VQuO2H5RfSE (or whatever the original form was before he edited it) it embeds but not for desktop.

EDIT: Not going to be a quick fix then apparently. I'll look at it later.

EDIT2: HTTPS should work now. The shorter links I'll need to add a new definition for.
