PES6 Questions

I've just started playing PES6 again after a long time and I'm finding it a bit harder than I remember! Can anyone give me some points on these issues:

1) Crossing: Every cross I put in seems to go past my man
2) Heading: Is there any sort of timing to this, like in the newer versions? Or is it just press the button?
3) Set pieces: Any way to get the defenders to come up for corners/free kicks?
4) What's the best way to beat a man in front of you? I know cutting inside at the 18 is too easy but other than that I'm having a lot of trouble beating the defender.
5) Defending! I think I've gotten so used to the newer games "hold a button to contain" defending that I've forgotten how to do it properly. The computer beats me very easily, I can't figure out how to contain and then tackle when I want to.

Thanks!

You can't in friendlies, if you're playing a Master League or another competition you can switch the team's mentality to red (full attack or however it was called) and wait 'till one or luckily the 2 of your CBs come up. The thing is, I've noticed they're not as aggressive as they should be once they come up, like they're not really in the middle of the action.

This can make your GK go up too, if it's really late in the game and you're losing or drawing.
