PES2008 jerkiness?

Silly question but I tried the PES2008 demo and it ran terribly on my machine, it jerked so badly that it was absolutely unplayable, even with all the fancy settings off. My system doesn't seem to like PES2008 even though graphically (with all the settings on "low") it appears worse than other games that run fine. I remember reading this was due to a Vista problem - have any patches for the retail version sorted this out?

My system is Vista 64-bit, dual-core 3ghz, 2gb RAM, GeForce 6600. Cheers.

The official patch for the full game helped this problem a bit but PES 2008 is a very poorly optimised game which has problems on a lot of systems...

Euro 2008 is out in about 2 weeks, surely Fifa can last you that long? :-pp

If you want to play a game with great responsiveness which is fun to play, then PES4 would be a good choice :) I still play that from time to time, some of the passing moves you could do on that game were insane.

your card aint good enough to run it smooth m8

I realise it's not a great card but it runs other games fine that have better graphics - let me explain that. I don't expect it to run brilliantly but the thing is that it plays every other game made at the same time as PES2008 or before fine, with the graphics settings on low. They are playable and don't jerk anywhere near as much as the PES2008 demo does, it's literally 3-4fps compared to 20-30fps.

I was hoping one of the patches would have improved things.

try medium, vsync on, switch everything to performance on nvidia control panel, and get the latest drivers and make sure your monitor is set to 60hz.
Bare in mind the pes engine is very badly programmed and the whole game is designed to be run a 60hz and bottle necks on your PC will kill it.
