All in here.

Right played almost 2 games of the full retail version, couldnt bare to finish the 2nd one.

At this moment i really think its awful, i will expand more on the reasons why in a minute, there will be a lot of comparisons with Fifa which a justified both being football games.

All my opinions are purely based on gameplay.

To start with the passing, on this version its pretty much the same as every other version of pes there as ever been highly scripted, AI gives you 2 or 3 options who you can pass it to and you roughly point the stick in that direction and it goes straight to your player, very simple very last Gen, yes there is a manual passing option but for fucks sake could it be any more arkward to use properly, why the fuck they couldnt put a pass power gauge when you pass the button and just point the left stick where you want it to go is beyond me.

Manual passing in fifa and the simple way it intergrated in to game is what makes Fifa 09 so far ahead of pes.

The shooting feels pretty much like 08 to me, shots seem to keep low which i was never keen on, the best shooting machanics on any pes game was probably pes 5 why they have changed from them is beyond me.

The player movement, once again the players feel like they are sliding on ice, the turning doesnt feel to bad, but the animations when sprinting at embarresing. (like my spelling) you can dance around players just like in other pes games, scored a very underwhelming goal with robiniho where i avoided about 4 defenders going into the box.

The Keepers seem shite, they seem to sit far to deep in the 6 yard box, and fuck up on very simple saves.

A few other things, the crowd chants are fucking awful, you can barely here a crowd roar when you score (when are you gonna sort that out seabass you fucking lazy cunt how hard is it to sample a fucking goal crowd roar ffs).

To sum up better than pes08, but another half effort hearted from knoami, do not buy it, hit them where it hurts, buy fifa instead.

This is coming from someone who has loved PES for over 10 years.

I suspect you're coming from EA sports. Although PES 2009 is not perfect, nor is fifa, at least at pc. I'm still enjoying PES 2009 anyway.

I think PES2009 on PC is fine, I like the game. FIFA on PC sucks total balls so that is in no way even an option. I've played the demo and full version of both.

crowd roar on goals > patch it in, its not that hard.
shooting > is improved a lot in the full version, you can still blast nice shots at goal and score. Fine with me.

So enjoy playing fifa, I'm pretty sure you'll find annoying bugs there too as some people have already start to notice (crosses almost always result in goals as it is impossible to defend the heading striker).

Goodbye.

Couldn't agree more!

Seems like the same old problems as the last few games. COM deciding which way your passes go (usually to the guy that's offside and not to the guy you aimed at).
Every foull seems to get a yellow card(at least the COM gets a few though).
On the whole, not impressed at all. Could be in the bin by the end of the week.

quite the oposite this year, played a few more games of pes, its totally uninspiring, where as fifa gets better and better the more i play it, sorry to inform you of this, i wanted pes to really progress this year and gameplay wise its not in the slightest.

I don't give a shit about your opinion, so stop trying to force it upon everyone.

You dont like the game - I don't care. Go to the FIFA boards and leave us here in peice.

Who cares what someone thinks after playing almost 2 games?! PES has always been a game where you have to play for some time to get used to it.

PES always gets better the more you play it. FIFA always gets worse the more you play it...

I totally agree with what your saying (right on), PES is a game that you have to work at it, practice makes perfect is a great phrase when playing PES, you have to get used to its feel for passing, crossing, shooting etc. then when you get good at that the game overall evolves into a great fun game..hence pro EVOLUTION soccer... In FIFA you pick it up and are impressed but after 2 or 3 games you know its the same shit as alaways, horrible AI (No Supporting Runs, players look as if they are watching teh game instead anticpating passes), Bad Camera views & overall bad REPETIVE game play in PES you feel a different kind of match when you play different teams in FIFA its all the same, also I am not saying that PES is perfect but it is what true football fans enjoy, we are sometimes to quick to judge as I did with PES 2008 which I discarded for several months came back to it and really enjoyed in large large large part to the graet people of this forum with patches etc.
PEOPLE PLAY AT LEAST 12 games then decide but not in a row take a step back and then you will see its not all that bad:PINKS:

TerrierJim: If you don't 'give a shit', then don't read it! It's a forum, you don't absolutely have to read what he says if you don't care at all, nor are you forced to.

Raff: In my honest opinion, both games are great, and they have different characteristics. For me, PES is more fun, but FIFA is more realistic.

People keep getting mixed up, thinking that if it's more fun then it's more realistic, but in reality, football is a game that is usually slow, tiring, and downright frustrating. Just watch all the matches where teams are somewhat evenly-matched. FIFA is like that for me.

It's like, well, Need for Speed vs. Gran Turismo. NFS is more fun for me, but GT is definitely -the- simulation, and that's how FIFA and PES are now.

Fifa is just made to look(!!!) more realistic (which it does) cuzz loads of people were complaining of it not being realistic. But it doesn't play that realistic at all. At some points it's more realistic than PES (other way around at other points) but the game feels way too scripted while playing and doesn't give me that anything-can-happen-at-football-feeling (which would be pretty realistic) that PES is giving us for years. And also at PES you can get very tactical (like always), so now they made fifa with a lot tactical options it suddenly is the "tactical game"????

In overall when you examine ALL the points of both games Fifa maybe just A BIT more realistic espacially when you're looking at it instead of playing it. But like some people suddenly call PES an arcade game that's just plain wrong!!! (even if most of us want to see it being more realistic, which it can be, it's still not an arcade game for sure)

And also if you want the real pace of a actual footballmatch you'd have to play matches of at least 30-60 minutes (or jsut 90 mins) otherwise it just wouldn't be right in comparison with the real thing

Hahaha, I've played 60 minute matches on both FIFA and PES just to be fair to both, and to be honest, scorelines on PES were way higher even on Top Player. FIFA... let's just say it was too slow for me. I can't play a 90 minute match of football without getting too tired, I guess it's the same with FIFA. With PES, the speed is still quite high (and stamina too), so I managed to last that long!

Still, I don't see why people have to prefer one over the other all the time, I just play whichever I feel like I'm in the mood for.

I have played about 5 games on PES 09 and I think although the game has hugely improved over 2008, it still has major flaws.

1. The keepers are still incredibly crap.
2. The shooting needs to be improved.
3. The passing needs to be improved.
4. Strikers sometimes get too much space.
5. Through balls need to be weighted so you can at least pass to the correct player.
6. Tackling is still messed up with getting a yellow everytime.77
7. Still too easy to score from corners.
8. Gameplay needs to be slowed down like the Winning Eleven games off old.

This is no doubt the game which PES 2008 should have been, and there is still a long way to go to fix the game properly.

Despite these early impressions of what is wrong with the game it is still a million times better than Fifa 09. My list with things wrong with that is never ending and I would crash the evo-web forums.

I hope next year we as PC Gamers either get a more evolved PES or we get the next gen version of Fifa, as EA claim that people cant run it.
What about the people who can, so release both versions on the PC and let the people with high spec gaming machines play the next gen version.

the thing is though, I almost quit after playing a month of PES2008 when it was out and I thought it was annoying as hell.. then gave it a go two months later, hated again..

but then, for the last two months it became together.. I've learned to play it and I'm kind of enjoying it.. scoring some spectacular goals..

so in your case, give it some time.. speaking for the demo, it seems to be better than 2008 and I think it will all settle down when you get used to gameplay..

for the fifa, dont know really.. it appears to be better on consoles and I'm hardly putting myself off for buying the PS3 version because I'm frightened to get used to it :)

for the guy who said fifa was like gran turismo. that is really funny. in gran turismo the only excitement is from looking at the game. the oppostion is like riding on rails. same race every time. so yeah, that is like fifa. nice too look at, but no fun to play.

Shrug, take it that way if you want. I did say fun doesn't necessarily equate to realism. Not that FIFA is the end-all of simulations, but it certainly is more of one than PES, and yes, it can get dull, but football always can get dull!

I can dig that but just not digging your explenation of both games. But i think its not possible to play 60 minutes matches in PES.... or is it??(maybe in 09 version, gonna check it out when i got it, hopefully within an hour)

my opinion on those remarks
1. not totally agreeing. GK's have been improved, they still tend to do a bit more stupid things then needed but every weekend keepers of first class leagues are making stupid mistakes/misjudgements so not that big of a deal anymore

2. Shooting is good

3. Passing indeed needs some adjusting, a more clearer and accurate way of doing it should be provided.

4. meh

5. same as regular passing

6. dunno why some people aren't able to tackle without getting cards, not that big of a prob here

7. yes it is too easy

8. just a tiny bit
