Finally Capcom stopped humping the Zombified Resident Evil franchise for five minutes and turned it's attention to one of the Greatest PS2 franchises, Onimusha. Although it ended with the lackluster Dawn of Dreams, 1-3 are all excellent games ( 2 being absolutely fantastic) and now we have a new beginning - The Way of The Sword. 2026, the countdown begins here.

Viewtiful Joe next, Capcom?
 
Loved the series.

Even if now there's, since it was out, way too much games looking like it on 2000-2005 it was something special.
I still love the lore of that game and a new version is still welcome. I would like to see some PS1 or PS2 classics sequel like for example Dino Crisis or Tenchu (the 2 lone examples coming to my mind)
 
Capcom remaking anything but Dino Crisis.
I have played the OG Onimusha just because it was a mix of classic survivor horror and action, but this seems like a modern souls like copy. Which is fine i guess, this is what sells nowdays but im not interested at all.
 
I suppose they could go souls like with it but there is nothing in this teaser which suggests it's gone into that territory. It just looks like a new Onimusha.

Totally, they should maintain that Onimusha vibe without expanding into "souls" mechanics. Besides FromSoftware and NeoWiz from S. Korea (creators of Lies of P) I didn't encountered any through and through good "souls like" game on the market, so I think could be a disservice for Onimusha to go on that route...

Onimusha 2 remaster coming late May.
The fighting looks great, especially like when the genma get stuck undir fabrics and flail around.

Onimusha 2 remaster is quite polished, still að bit "old" to play, if you use the stick it can be rough to move around in fixed backgrounds that change perspective. Apart from that it is quite challenging at times, but I enjoy it very much.
 
A late reminder that the release date has moved up to September 4! Not long to go now, although I might not have time for it right away. But smart to at least move it out of the absolute insane release wave in the second half of September.
 
I never played these. What are they? It looks very Nioh.. is it like Nioh, or Sekiro, or Dark Souls?

As a PlayStation player you should also set your alarm clock for September 9th. Thats when Valheim releases on PS5. That is one epic game and ill be getting it again, coz I sold my Xbox.

First games that came out ca. early PS2 where basically samurai Resident Evil, with fixed background and tank controls. The 1-2 remasters were a bit refined but I doubt they are worth it for those who never played them back in the day. 3 was great as well but I was never a fan of the 4th one, which went a bit DMC with throwing up style scores and the like, I felt like they switched out great (though bonkers) story and atmosphere for something more like a sports event.

Really though, Onimusha is very much it's own thing.

I was thinking the same thing. The game certainly isn’t bad, but a 10?

I would rather look at reviews from professionals than user reviews from basement dweller PC gamers who review bomb anything that has a gay/trans/woman without makeup-character in it.

A bit unfair? Well, so is saying IGN give every game a 9 or 10. They don't.

Whatever, one IGN review is not the whole story here, the game is getting massively positive reviews pretty much across the board and any demo concerns about it being to easy seem to be out the window.

Next up, Viewtiful Joe, eh Capcom? I'm not sure why I really want that franchise to come back, I was really bad at those games. But they were cool.

I ignore the review bombing on Steam, as you can tell which games have been review bombed or people giving 1* as they can't play it on their 386.

The franchise is very well loved but to me there is no worse site than IGN for giving reviews.
It seems that pretty much every game is a 8/9/10 when reviewed and I just can't take them seriously when every game scores so highly.
 
I really like the Before you Buy gameranx reviews. They are really balanced and have very good reviews.
IGN annoys me and they often seem to rate games in a weird way just to be 'edgy'.
 
Well, it wouldn't be the first time IGN gets accused of paid reviews... I wouldn't be surprised, if that's the case.

Me too. I always check them out, and they never disappointed before.
