False alarm fellas, it seems as if i was too pissed for my braincells to work. I am just very bad at choosing football games.
Looked around and played a bunch and yeah, FIFA 17 has the strangest defending ai in existence. You really cannot do much to score against them and i've read many articles claiming the same stuff.
Sorry for the long ass rant, i'll keep it to myself next time lol.

This will be a long rant thread, so be ready for it. I'll be swearing a bit and overexaggerate stuff but i wouldn't mind some serious opinions on this.
For the past couple of months now, i decided to start playing football games after not having touched one for well over 5 or 6 years. I used to remember how fun it was to just pick a random team that had a cool badge and to score sick goals or whatever.
But now that i've grown up, everytime i touch one of these games i just come out bitter and annoyed for reasons that are never clear to me.
No matter what game i play, no matter if its PES or FIFA, old or new, singleplayer or multiplayer, the games just loves to make my experience as miserable as possible.
And what's worse is that i've tried many different football related games and can never settle with one (I mean, FIFA Street for the ps3 is pretty fun, but i mean normal 11v11 football games).
I've tried FIFA 16, FIFA 17, FIFA 23, FIFA 15, PES 6-13-17-18 and Football Life and these games just made me want to punch my monitor in half.
I want to like these games! Whenever i play against real people that i know it's always a blast! But the second i sit down to try to improve with AI or try to play career mode it just gets turned into "Chinese Football Torture: The Videogame". It's as if these games were made to torture war prisoners, the kind of shit you'd see get banned by the Geneva convention.
All of my problems are a mix of poor gameplay and anger enducing AI.
Imagine this: I am playing The Journey on FIFA 17, my Alex Hunter is basically the second coming of jesus christ reincarnated into a footballer, yet i cannot for the life of me score anything with him. And this isn't the only issue! Others include but not limited to:
-My team turn into traffic cones the second we're on the opposing teams half.
-Whenever they get the ball, the game decides to turn on tank controls and makes them take 3 business days to make a pass or a turn.
-Every shot hits the post or goes near the post.
-My team wait until chinese new year to kick a ball so chip ins are impossible.
-Through balls work only 1% of the time as whenever my team/alex get the ball, they seemingly get 2 cinder blocks attached directly to their balls, slowing them to a crawl and letting the 51 rated, malnourished, completely tired, second division right back catch up to them instantly.
-Headers are useless and i never deal with them as they either land in the hands of the GK or a continent away from where i wanted it to land.
-Skill moves are unusable as 3/4 of my team don't know how to move a ball in general, let alone with skill moves.
-Passes are fancy but culminate in us losing the ball instantly the moment we get anywhere close to the box
-The AI becoming prime barcelona whenever they notice i take too long to score or whenever i am 1-0 up
-My team have a weird fascination with instantly losing balls THEY JUST RECEIVED
-Defensively i do fine until my team decides to allow every ball past them, and also clear balls directly to the oppositions feet
And these are the issues that come to mind, i've encountered a lot more of this while playing! Like, paid referees, wonky balls physics, etc.
Now imagine this, but in every single football game i've played, no exceptions.
You might've noticed by some of my posts that i've complained about similar things before. But the more and more i play different franchises of games i realized that this problem is with ME and not the game, which makes this 300x as infuriating!
From my point of view, i play completely fine! I watch football, i do things ingame normal footballers do but the game keeps punishing me regardless of what i try! But then i go on youtube and see random people do passes and score goals i know damn well are impossible for me to score! They just press X a bunch of times and instantly score when i have to do advanced algebra quantum physics type shit just to get anywhere close to the box!
Some of you may think "Just lower the difficulty!" but that doesn't solve the issue. These issues will be technically solved but at that point im not improving anymore. Winning 5-0 on easy difficulty doesn't help me get better and it's not fun. I like a good challenge, but if a "good challenge" requires me to have a masters degree in Football coaching and management then it's no fun!
I want to improve, i want to get better, i want to eventually be able to beat the max level ai. But its impossible if every game keeps throwing roadblocks like this with no explanation on any difficulty over easy.
Keep in mind, this is absolutely a skill issue. Sure, the game is complete bullshit at times, but considering that FIFA 17 is apparently one of the best FIFAs ever or something then that means they can be overcome. But theres nowhere for me to go if the tutorials/videos online show stuff i already do working perfectly fine when nothing works on my end.
My question is this: If you're even remotely "good" at FIFA or football games in general, how? What are your prefered ways to attack? Defend? Do you even bother using headers or through balls? Is FIFA 17 even worth playing at this point? Have you experienced anything similar to this? Any tips or tricks or whatever? Any help would be appreciated, as i want to put a close on this before i go insane and never touch any of these god forsaken games again. Thanks in advance!
