i know they are ps1 games but the resident evil series are a must own set of games for the ps2 esp number 2

Yep played 1-3 I think and 2 was best. Then bought 5 for ps3. Also completed 4 recently on PS2. Onimusha series I was looking at quite similar. I think I ought 1st one but wasnt too keen.

shadow of the colossus is the best PS2 game ever made, must buy it if you have a PS2.

Looks/sounds a bit dull but has good reviews. They are releasing a double bakc ico + shadow collousus HD for PS3 in april I think.

It´s no dull, the game is a piece of art. And yes there will be a PS3 HD release of Shadow of the Colossus/ICO, will be amazing since the GOW adapted versions are very good.

yes I will most likely buy that 30 quid for 2 games.

Its weird from what I make off it, theres a lot of roaming about in empty land and you fight liek 5 bosses or something thats all there is to the game. Sounds weird.

It´s not 5 bosses, they´re about 20 COLOSSUS and the game objective is only to kill them, find them and kill them, each one with a different strategy. The emptiness of the land gives a great atmosphere of the loneless of the quest, it also prepars for the encounters with the colossus.

You face them in their own enviroment, each one in a diferent part of the land, some flyes, some under water, some in the sand, some undergrond. It is a UNIKE game with no other even similar.

I can´t wait to play it again in HD for the PS3 in april!

So basically is a huge world like oblivion for example but apart form 20 bosses its empty. And yo have to travel the world to find each boss?

Have you heard of ICO? Thats in the pack with shadow..

Lol I agree. Still the best soccer games around..Pity I cant handle old skool gfx etc...and am kinda burnt out by the gameplay...but still the best IMO

How old are you, if you dont mind me asking?

Shadow of the Colossus is a fantastic game, but not one for the masses or the younger folk that wish for more instant gratification these days. Finding the bosses in a barren landscape is definately a large part of the atmosphere, as is the bond between the main character and his horse. Well worth checking out, but might as well wait for the PS3 release at this stage.

As for other games, the Burnout's on PS2 were great. PES5 is still the best PES to date. :))

20s why? Tbh funnily I prefered Slow playing games like RPG final fantasy and prob shadow of collous when I was young say 15-20 at most. After about 20 I coudlnt be bothered with slow paced games.

Since 20s I mainly just played fps games and pro evo. I cant even be bothered with FOotball manager these days.

I think rather opposite to you..as I age I have less patience for long games and care/time/interesrt for slow gameplay, exploration, fantasy etc..

I just prefer pick up and play. Im trying to play Mass Effect 2 and I know it is a great game but I cant be bothered with the stop/start and stories whereas when younger I wouldve played the game 24/7. Its weird.

Well if you are an RPG man then I'm sure you would appreciate it. You should give it a shot.

Funnily enough I was never an RPG man, I never had the patience for it. Plus the turn based combat was a major dislike for me, couldn't be bothered with it. But Shadow is paced just right, you dont spend hours wandering if you dont want to, you can get from one boss to the next in 10 mins if you like (from memory) and that 10 mins includes having to actually find them.

I think as we get older life takes over from the gaming alright, I cant remember the last time I finished a game. Actually thats a lie, the last one was Black Ops, but thats because they build them quite nicely for finishing in a short space of time. :)

I have Heavy Rain, played the first half an hour of it and haven't touched it since. Have Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, played it for 5 minutes... Sometimes I'm not sure why I bother buying them anymore. :P

Lol its weird Ive been unemployed for a long time now and even still I cant really get into games. When younger even durign study I would play a lot of final fantasy etc...for hours each day with minimal free time. NOw with all the free time in the world I cant get into it..Feels stupid,

oh travel to some land to collect some key to go back to the other land to open the gate to fight the bad monster but in between collect the deadly sword that can kill the monster and get in loads of fights to level xp and learn new magic in between....Im just like man should I really be playing this crap lol. Whereas even when 19 I just got really into it. In fact Im quite saddened I can no longer enjoy it lol. So I just play sports and shootign games for the adrenalin rush.

i do regret having bought a ps3 slim for the lack of the ps2 compatiblity.

I am in my mid 30es and the current generation is not to my liking. I prefer ps2 kinda games. These days i get bored because there are way too many things to do in game (i feel lost), way too much customization i couldn't give a damn, a million button combinations and the so called "photorealistic" visuals are generally utter crap. There are some stellar productions out there like Batman and Uncharted that are really perfect in every sense, bust most sport and car games (the ones i usually play) became really bad. I did find nba 2k11 a great game, but come on there are 50 different kind of shooting out there...wtf i don't have that time to invest in a game!

I miss the old "easy to play difficult to master" 2 button games, most games these days are "difficult too play and boring once mastered" (yes fifa 11/pes 2011...you are really boring after a while)

So i might ge a ps2 once gain, most second hand games are 1/2 euros.

Any chance a future update might add backwards compatiblity??

GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas are obviously great PS2 games :).

Oh the hours I wasted in Vice City :P.

I agree furthermore they add in so many cut scenes etc..games are so stop-start like movies with added gameplay.

PS2 games are GAMES...pure games with gameplay.

MGS 1,2,3>MGS 4

GTA3,VC,SA> GTA 4

PES 5,6>PS3 PES games

RE1,2,3,4>RE5

etc...

Games are more media orienated than gameplay orientated I think.

Plus excess custimaziotns, button controls etc...PS2 was simpler and more fun. they gfx are a lot worse though.

Syaing that there is some great ps3 games such as infamous, uncharted, batman, ass assasins creed ....

True but the point he was making is correct.

Every next-gen sequel has been worse than the PS2 versions IMO.

MGS, GTA, PES, Burnout, Gran Turismo, Resi, etc were all much better games in their PS1/PS2 days than they have been on PS3/360.

Yes I was only using sequels to compare because thats a fair and easy compariosn to make.

Devil May Cry
Final Fantasy
Mercs
Socom
Red Faction
Splinter Cell

Possibly,
Madden
Tekken
Soul caliber
WWE
TIger woods?

Anyway It aint just sequels but overall. I seemed to enjoy more games on ps1/ps2 than ps3.

However, I few PS3 games been classic.

Dead Space
Assasins Creed 2
Infamous (I enjoyed a lot)
Batman
Uncharted

(COD and BF and mass effect 2 but for me they are PC games)
