Totally unnecesarry but .... kids these days would never even play a ps3 game let alone a ps2 even if it has not aged a bit, so.
Also Konami is doing something with their IPs is a good sign.

The thing with remakes is I can understand if something is very dated or the story is lacking and you want to improve the original with contemporary graphics/mechanics or improve the story like Capcom did excellently with RE2...

But MGS3 is near perfection. You can't enhance the story anymore and you can't improve on brilliance.

It only really needs the controls modernizing/remapping and maybe a better workflow for the camo & food system. Kojima regretted that post-release which is why he made it work on the fly in MGS4 and got rid of the medical system.
