Source: "The Fix" by Canadian Journalist Declan Hill as reviewed in the Belgian paper "De Morgen".

According to Hill he infiltrated in the Chinese gambling maffia and witnessed how 4 world cup matches were sold:

Ghana - Italy.
Hill witnessed a encounter between his Chines source and a big whig of the Ghana FA. At this encounter the match was fixed: Ghana would loose with 2-0 against Italy. Result: 2-0

Ghana - Brazil:
Hill once again witnessed and encounter between the same persons. Ghana would loose the match with at least 3 goals difference. End result: 3-0

Ukraine - Italy:
Hills Chines contact predicted a 3-0 victory for Brazil.

Ecuador- England:
England were supposed to win withat least 2 goals difference. According to Hill's Chinese witness due to the fact that England's finishing was clumsy, this was the only fixinf that failed.

According to the book what is important is not the fact that Brazil beats Ghana, but that it beats Ghana with 3-0. People in Asia gamble about the result of a match (the exact amount of goals or the difference in goals). Hill talked with a BBC statistics specialist (Steve Fisher). He did some maths on the Ghana-Brazil match, according to Fisher the odds for Brazil beating Ghana were 1-528.

Something peculiar: 2 of these matches were refereed by "our" Belgian ref De Bleeckere. The book is not clear if De Bleeckere was impicated in the fixing.

According to "Chin" (not his real name) he has players who help him in clubs like Chrystal palace, Kaiserslautern and Liverpool. Those were the clubs he mentioned. "Chin" is Hill's Chinese source.

Is this true ????
I wouldn't know.
It's all in the book, but i think it would be best to be rather scpetic about all those revelations. I sincerely hope it isn't true...

Sounds like rubbish to me. The odds for each game went according to plan, simply because the winning team was better. England, Brazil and Italy were all favourites for those games and won so convincingly. I don't understand how he can say it was fixed for Italy-Ghana when they were unlucky to hit the post, or the England game where I remember Ashley Cole's slide tackle sent the Ecuadorian shot to the crossbar. There is no way these chances were done on purpose to maintain the score, as it would've been a sure goal if he had not touched it with the tip of his foot.

Also, Italy-Ghana, imo, the most realistic result based on form and players on paper would've been 2-0. Brazil winning by at least 3 goals, meant also 4-1, which is quite realistic considering Brazil's form in the WC.

I also think JFK was assassinated.

I don't think that is the issue, I researched the author, he criticizes the Bundesliga a lot, and also Brazil and England games. He's criticizing Ghana and not Italy, but I don't think Ghana were involved. IMO.

Without having read the book, but based only on the review: this is not about the countries who won those matches...they would have won them anyway.
It's about the scores and the loosing countries...if it's true...

Thomas, this thread is not about Italy.
Please stop...i don'twant pointless discussions in this thread.

OK ...Thomas...i'm sorry

On topic: i just read that Blatter has reacted.
FIFA will investigate (only) the Ghana-Brazil match. But even they find anything suspicious, he isn't sure that FIFA will or can do anything.

The least they could would be excluding countries who have fixed matches during WC, for example for the next WC.

Now i'm gonna specualte why FIFA will not do anything, so bear in mind this is pure my own speculation, no facts.

I think Blatter is afraid that somehow Brazil is involved (i'm sure they are not, this is about results and not winners of matches). Commercially Brazil are the most important football country, so a WC without Brazil would be disastrous...it would be like Formula one without Ferrari, Wimbledon without Nadal and Federer,...
Furthermore the next WC is in Africa and Ghana is an African country.

To conclude: why only investigate that one match ????

after a 5 years long investigation i finally found out who's the man behind the curtain in jfk assassination. for further informations, buy my book, which is going to be released tomorrow.

and don't forget to get a copy of my new best seller "who shot J.R."

i mean, if this "journalist" would have picked some more "fixable" matches (like a boring 1-0, or a 0-0, or even a 1-1) at least he would be a little more believable....

but no, he picked two 3-0 (with tons of bars hits) and a 2-0

and the teams choice is even funnier. criminal organisations may have an interest in fixing matches to feed their football betting incomes....
but of course they would aim for unexpected results with the underdogs winning (high stakes, low ammount of bets).... but no, according to this idiot, the chinese mafia fixed brazil-ghana (3-0) and italy-ukraine (3-0).... oh yeah, sure... really unexpected results...:DOH:...

and then the funniest part... theese evil genius didn't fix the result in terms of win\loss.... no, they fixed the exact result....

moggi must be a newbie compared to theese guys :-pp

Thats rubbish, Brazil involved in that?? If anyone was to be involved it was Ghana and the referees. In fact, Adriano was offside when he scored our 1st. And Ghana's defence was asking for it, playing an advanced back line like it happened in Ze Roberto's goal.
Brazil just went there and won deserving it or not.

Well, to tell the truth I think this guy is just full of shit.

That guy made me laugh. How he was standing there in front of all the press basically saying: "I have almost no real facts to back up my lunatic theories, but they're still worth a read" was hysterical! :D

Yo, if anyone's interested, I know the secret ingredient for Chicken McNuggets! YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE IT!!!
Be sure to buy my exploitative book for just 500 bucks! YES: that's 500 bucks per page!
