Plot

The game switches the lead in the series, putting players in control of "self-medicated psychopath" Lynch. The story begins with Lynch having found peace in Shanghai and attempting to "make a fat deal where the pay is beyond his wildest dreams and nothing is going to get in his way."

Gameplay

Players in the campaign mode of Kane & Lynch 2 will take control of Lynch who is backed up by the previous series protagonist Kane. The online enabled cooperative mode will allow players to play as Kane. Unlike Dead Men, players will only be able to arm up two of any weapon they can grab from dead enemies and cannot be swapped between allies. The combat system has been modified from the original game. Players can now take cover through a button press as opposed to originally being automatic depending on stance. While still having regenerating health, players can get knocked down while being able to immediately get back up.

Multiplayer

Fragile Alliance returns along with two new variant modes (Undercover Cop, Cops & Robbers). The returning mode still has a group of players attempting to grab as much money as possible while escaping police forces and possible traitors. Undercover Cop follows the same fashion while a randomly chosen player must prevent the team from escaping. Cops & Robbers has a group of player controlled police officers going against the criminals still planned to grab money and escape.

The end of each match will allow players to buy new weapons from their heist money.

There is also a single player variant called Arcade where players must accumulate as much money as possible for high scores while surviving increasingly difficult rounds.

Is anyone else thinking of giving this one a go? I kinda liked the first one even though it controlled quite badly and the cover system was hit and miss. But they seem to have fixed those problems now and added the cloverfield style 'being filmed' style which I think looks awesome. Multiplayer sounds fun too though I'd like to see a few more modes and maps... so far it's just that one rob the bank or whatever map/mode.

Downloaded and played it. Quite liked it. Haven't played the first one so I've no idea what people mean by shit controls. Imo they're fine in this one, and I like what I've seen and experienced so far. Just that I ain't sure why the picture looks like taken with a home video cam? Is that an intended effect?

The first one was pretty good apart from the awful controls as mentioned

Is there a demo of this then?

Played the Demo, did not grab me, looked good though so dirty and detailed, I know they are different animals but always makes me wonder why Football games are still so pristine and sterile when you have games like this pushing the realism boundaries...

See Nick, that's what I meant when I said I want to see different companies entering the football market, to see their different ways of approaching it. The Duo-monopoly be broken.

I downloaded the demo today.

Really enjoyed it. Very gritty and dark; I can imagine this game is going be very violent and controversial. The controls were definitely better than the first and the graphics/animations looked pretty decent. The online looks good aswell, I just hope there is enough of a following as I went online this afternoon and there was a grand total of 0 playing.

So anyways... Played the full game and completed it in about 5 hours or so.

Loved it. Quite violent and disturbing in parts - you'll know what I mean when you get to that chapter/scene midway through the game. The graphics were very gritty and dark and the soundtrack and voice acting was great throughout. I love the new trailing camera aswell, it reminded me a lot of the camera in The Shield.

A LOT better than the first (which perhaps wasn't that hard). Quite short though, which was disappointing. Definitely worth a rent or purchase if you get the chance.

Yeah definitely. It's a typical linear shooter game, but it feels different to the rest, the camera, soundtrack and atmosphere all add to it. I was entertained enough for the full five hours

The AI was OK on medium, but I stuck it on Hard for a bit more of a challenge without it being ridiculous and frustrating.

Worth a disc ;)

Would you say that playing the game with a friend local co-op is the way to play this game? Because the first one was actually enjoyable if you did that, but when you played it alone it was rubbish.

5 hours sounds pretty short, but I guess it's better than doing like Alan wake where they just add the same thing over and over again to make it longer.

Yeah, I reckon COOP would be better. The game is fine in single player though, not like Army of Two 2 and Lost Planet 2 that were pretty unplayable with the retarded AI partner.

Finished it on extreme difficulty yesterday. It should really be renamed 'badly designed unbalanced mode' because you can die with 1 shot (even when in cover) and yet the enemies take 5 or 6 shots and keep coming at you. Even a headshot isn't a guaranteed kill and your AI partner will constantly ignore a threat right up close to him to aim at someone miles away in cover..

Very annoying.
