inFAMOUS 2

Re: inFAMOUS 2 - PS3

I hate his new look. I loved the look of the first. This one just looks like some skater boy dick. I'd love to know who these people are though who hated the first game's look so much that they basically hounded the devs to change it because I don't recall anyone saying anything negative about the character at all.

Re: inFAMOUS 2 - PS3

Was the first one any good? I remember playing the demo and thinking it was pretty average but I heard that the demo isnt a good impression of the full game. Im tempted to get it now its cheap.

Re: inFAMOUS 2 - PS3

The first game was pretty decent - check out the thread on here.

However, I don't think I'm going to bother with the sequel. I can't see where they can progress with the series or what they can add to the gameplay to top the first game and after watching that snippet above my fears are realised. It just looks like it has had a graphics update.

Re: inFAMOUS 2 - PS3

I liked the first a lot. Plus I think the ending to the first game is up there with the best of them. I loved it (the ending).

Not sure if I'd say the demo doesn't represent the game though. I felt about the same to me, Though you start the full game with much less power ups and abilities. So maybe.. yeah you get more of a feel for the character and world you are in because you start out weaker and then build on from there.

There is a nice good and evil balance to the game as well so if you play the game like a shit certain cut scenes change (not drastically but they do at least refer to you being on the 'evil' side) - and the people around you react differently if they see you in the streets. It just add that little extra to the game and it was something I really missed in Red Dead seeing as that had a morality style meter.

If you find it cheap though I'd say it's worth a look. If I hadn't platinumed it already I'd play it again without a doubt. I had a blast with it.

Re: inFAMOUS 2 - PS3

Its only £13 for the Special Edition from CeX. Will probably end up getting it but I think I will try the demo again. Thanks.

Re: inFAMOUS 2 - PS3

The demo isn't a very good representation of the game.

Re: inFAMOUS 2 - PS3

I do not really like the slo-mo effect for the melee movement. It feels like it disrupts the quick movement of the gameplay. Everything else in that video looks good.

InFamous 2's Karma system revamped

InFamous' Karma system has had a full makeover for the upcoming PlayStation 3 sequel, developer Sucker Punch has revealed.

Producer Brain Fleming outlined the changes on the PlayStation Blog.

"We got feedback from fans that some of the choices felt too mechanical, and they wanted their choices to have more meaning in the narrative and in the world.

"So, our challenge with I2 was to make these choices more real, more believable, and yet still keep them visible and clear to the players."

"Instead of a question that really didn't relate to our primary gameplay (e.g. "should we take this food or give it away?")," he continued, "in InFamous 2 we let the player decide who to ally with on a quest, or choose between Kuo's surgical strike or Nix's no-holds barred assault." he said.

"You aren't just choosing a mission, you're choosing an ally and alienating another person. This was both clear for players, and more real."

He then went on to illustrate the changes in two videos showing different approaches to a sequence in which Cole has to break Kuo out of a prison. In one, Cole sensibly enlists the help of the police, while in the other he storms in all-guns blazing, causing considerable collateral damage.

Enjoyed the demo, it took me a couple minutes to remember the controls but it all clicked when I did a Thunder Drop.

Argh.

I started playing the game and wanted to put it on hard so I could get that trophy. I paused it as soon as I gained control of my character but then saw on various forums that you won't get the trophy that way.

So far the 2 ways people claim you can are either by pausing on the first cut scene you can (the scene on the boat using the games engine, not the 2D cartoon) and changing there and then just continuing.

The other way which seem to be more sure fire is to start a game. Pause when you can and change the difficulty. Then manually save when you can and then select 'new game'. When you start the new game the difficulty is automatically on hard and so you know for a fact the trophy will unlock at the end.

The other arse is the 'Infamous 1 trophy scan' the game claims. Apparently if you have certain trophies from the first game you gain unlocks right away. Despite me having a plat I have no options to carry my data over and start with a slightly upgraded good or bad character. It seems that you have to actually play infamous on the same console for it to trigger and work. Really stupid.

So bollocks to that and on with the hard play through. I'm guessing the game will be like the first and playing as a bad guy will give you stronger powers so making hard a little easier. I've died a lot so far but I think that's more me charging into situations like rambo and forgetting to hide and recharge my health.

Oh one other gripe I have with the game is there is no way (that I've seen) of filtering the user generated mission to 'your friends list'. Would have been nice to be able to get a list like that rather than have to manually search each friend and see if they've done anything.
