17-minute gameplay video below. :D

I love the Hitman series. The new one looks good, but worries me at the same time! No to Hollywood cinematics, no to x-ray vision! It's like they're purposely trying to make the film(s) & games be as similar as possible to boost the profile of the franchise. I have heard that the x-ray vision will be either optional OR just unavailable on the higher difficulties. So that would be fine by me.

I do love quite a lot in the video. The atmosphere is great, very tense, the graphics are gorgeous and the sounds are lovely. 47 looks the business. Hopefully, this will be a true sequel to Blood Money.

Remember that Hitman gameplay trailer that was due tomorrow? It’s up on Machinima.com now. There are a few things you should know before you watch it, though.

It’s basically not a Hitman game any more. Unexplainable magic Hitman-o-vision X-ray sight, massive Hollywood set piece cinematics and charecters that never shut up. It’s pretty obtrusive with everyone on screen talking constantly. Oh, and it’s got that Inception foghorn going on because that was a thing once, right?

To be honest it’s mainly my fanboy knee jerking. It looks exciting, it really does. It’s just not… Hitman. Instead, think Batman does Splinter Cell, which isn’t a bad combination at all. What do you think?

That was pretty boring to watch. It really did feel like Splinter Cell rather than a Hitman level here you have a target and a small map.

Jawdropping in technical aspects. Boring gameplay ripped off of Splinter Cell and Batman. Why the hell would they waste all this amazing tech on something which is a game we have already played to boredom?

It's not revolutionary, but I do like what's on show. The devs said some time ago that as well as going next-gen and incorporating new ideas, they wanted to keep the fan base happy. And most fans I've seen or spoke with wanted something like Blood Money in HD.

If there's open areas and the missions are still as replayable (due to the multiple solutions) then I'll be satisfied. I too thought of Batman & SC in the first few minutes, however Hitman's been around for longer when you think about it. I remember both the missus and I commenting numerous times throughout Arkham Asylum on how certain aspects were a lot like Hitman.

Regardless of how Absolution turns out, I've sworn to re-play through Blood Money on the toughest difficulty after doing the new one.

Blood money was my favourite of the series. Each level felt really well designed and offered numerous ways to complete them. I loved the opera level and how there were a few different ways just to take out the person on stage. Rig the lights above the stage, then rig the chandelier to take out the other target as he would run to the stage. Or rig the stunt pistol and let the actor kill them, or take out that actor and shoot them yourself on stage playing their part.

I've been playing it again recently on onlive and it's just as good as I remembered.

Thought it looked pretty good, they need to get rid of that Xray shit though that's just stupid, and why didn't he take the uniform from the first cop he took out?
