Guys, how do I install patch to a Console system?

I have never own the game for a console system. I have updated my PC version with the latest patch. How is this accomplished for the console version? Saved to a DVD and then place in the console? Sorry this may sound stupid, but I am considering trying the Xbox version. Thanks.
 
You will need a modded console and then you either copy the game to the Xbox HDD and tranfer the edited files via FTP or burn a new DVD with them.
 
This can also be done on a modded PS2 or a Hard Drive + HD Advance 2.0 on PS2.
