EPL only (haven't watched the entire world of football enough lol)

By every metric they have overperformed regardless of the failures of the 'favourites', and happily reaped the rewards. Arguably unrivalled achievement in modern sport.
- Worst team of the season ; Newcastle
Villa were expected to struggle after losing their best players. Newcastle spent £80m and got relegated
- Surprise team of the season ; Leicester
I had them staying up when all the experts had them relegated but no-one expected what would go on to happen. Special mention for Chelsea. In any other season they'd win this 'award'. Officially surpassed Moyes' Utd and Blackburn as the worst PL champions thus far. What the hell happened?
- Failure of the season ; Lescott's cock.
A man's cock has often failed him but to somehow tweet a picture of a sportscar to turn thousands of football fans against your owner is a pretty big failure. Unheard of since Giggs' was inside his brother's wife for a decade
- Best manager ; Ranieiri
He kept the Leicester ball rolling when every single human being on the planet expected it to get stuck at any moment
- Worst manager ; Pellegrini & Mourinho
The fact that Mourinho had the Champions on the precipice of the relegation places just shows what a bad job Pellegrini has done this year. For Jose to fail so hard and yet City not be champions at the end of it all is pretty big failure. City were not even close in the end and may not even qualify for the CL. Unbelievable.
- Best player ; Mahrez
Often the player Leicester relied upon during the dirty months of the season
- Best under-23 player ; Alli
Martial is the bigger talent but Alli has had the better season. Kane has shown he is here to stay. Bellerin has been good too. Iheanacho, Rashford, Iwobi, Fosu Mensah deserve a mention for breaking through to show promise. They need to build upon it.
- Surprise of the year (player) ; Vardy
Kante was an unknown. Mahrez had talent. Vardy tho never seemed capable of having a season like he has had.
- Next star ; Jason Denayer / Fosu Mensah / Brahim Diaz
Depends how you define it. If we're talking about young players then Denayer will become a 1st team regular at City next season. If we're talking about kids who have only just broken through into top flight football then I really like Fosu Mensah. If we're talking about youth players then I've yet to see anyone as good as Brahim Diaz at his age. May make his 1st team debut next season - most future world class players make their debuts at 17 and I really think Brahim is that calibre. I'd already class Martial/Alli/Kane as 'stars' - they'd certainly cost a 'star' fee, and Martial already has
- Best goalkeeper ; De Gea
The best GK in the world.
- Best center back ; Alderweireld
Pretty slim pickings this season tbh. Not much good defending going on. Alderweireld probably the best on offer this year
- Best side back ; Bellerin
Much to learn defensively but he has been outstanding at times. Only real competition from Walker, Clyne, Sagna, Cresswell, Fuchs from what I've seen this season.
- Best midfielder; Kante
The most important midfield cog in the PL's best team.
- Best attacker ; Aguero
Not at his personal best but still the best. Played 50% less than his Golden Boot competitors yet still there.
- Best captain ; Morgan
Led from the back, scoring important goals in the business end like all title-winning captains do.
- Goal of the season; Benteke vs Utd
Overhead kicks (when struck well - not shinned!) just can't be beaten. 2. Alli vs Palace 3. Vardy vs Liverpool. Less luck involved in Alli's vs Vardy's
- Best match of the season; Norwich vs Liverpool
Poor in quality but totally mental. Outside of the PL, the Bayern vs Juventus games and Bayern vs Atletico games were top notch
