edit team problem

Apologies if this has been posted before. Couldn't find anything after a quick search.

Just wondering if I'm doing something wrong - I have edited the formation of my team in the options area at the start, but when i go to start a cup, while the formation has stayed at whatever i set it at, the players have reverted to default, meaning I have to go in and change the starting lineup before every game. Is this a known problem, or is there something else i need to do to save the details?
