Dani Jarque - RIP

How can Football players pass medicals and still this kind of accidents happend.. :(

RIP

He had just been appointed captain of his hometown club, he was Espanyol through and through. :(

R.I.P

Shocking how often this happens, players must be getting pushed too hard or something.

Only 26 years old as well, just wrong :(

A completely shocking and unexpected turn of events. Jarque was a genuinely decent defender and a stalwart of the Espanyol defence, and it's even more saddening when you realise just how young he was. :(

R.I.P

It was very unexpected. A good defender and a young player died. We must remember the players that have died, like Miklos Feher, Foe, Puerta, etc.

Rest In Peace DANI

Man... this f'n SUCKS!!! :( :CONF:

Just heard about this and just like Puerta, it is an ABSOLUTE shocker!!!

Good player, on brink of arguably the best national team in the world (just like Puerta was), loyal, many clubs wanted him, Liverpool were linked with him a year or so ago, but he wasn't interested. He wanted to help the club he was raised at. Quite experienced by now and but was still young....

It's a sad day for Spanish football. Totally unexpected. :(

RIP Daniel

What can I say... Even If I'm a barça fan, Jarque have always been a perfect person inside and outside the pitch.

Just... Rest in peace Dani.

There must be something behind this. Football players don't pass exams cheating, something happened that the press ain't telling us.

Still, yet another loss for football. I was completely shocked when i looked at the newspaper and read this, its so unfair. RIP and my condolences to the family.

I seem to think this too. Players getting captured by clubs at such a young age then groomed with extensive training to make them athletes while their bodies are still growing.

You could not imagine players as young as 16-17 playing pro 10-15 years ago as they do now.

A serious look into why needs taken.

Still tragic none the less RIP

I'm sad for his family, the club and people in general. It's always a shock to hear this kind of news, he was a great professional and someone who would never speak a bad word, loyal and playing at his beloved club. Just an example to follow in today's football market.

About the death itself, I do agree on players being pushed too far right now. I know it may have nothing to do with this case, but there are too many drugs and enhancers in sport nowadays and this kind of news seem to repeat faster everytime.

When I was a kid and played for Barcelona they advised me to take Creatinina to add muscle power. Later it was considered doping and later it was again allowed. You can buy it everywhere right now, but it IS A DRUG and something that your body won't naturally produce. Imagine what effects on long term do these things. I was 12 years old and I wasn't even a key player for the team. Imagine what great players have gone through... It' time to start thinking about the players as human beings with limits.

RIP Dani.

It's very sad that this keeps happening.

Drekkard it's interesting what you said about being given creatine at that age. It's used by bodybuilders and atheletes which I think is fair enough, but I think giving it to anyone under the age of 16 is dangerous.

RIP Dani Jarque.

He sounded like a very talented footballer and was fiercely loyal to his beloved Espanyol, and so young, too.

Unfortunately, heart defects often don't manifest themselves until it is too late.

It's rediculous that there seems to be nothing that you can do to detect these things, and that it keeps happening.

So sad for someone so young as well.

RIP Dani.

That's a potentially eye-opening and controversial thing to say that you know. I wonder if the footballing world and the regulartory bodies are aware of stuff like this going on?

R.I.P Jarque. Shocking news. :(

Isn't this the case that happened with De La Red last year but he thank God survived that?

Could there be something wrong with La Liga's health checks? Many of these incidents seem to happen to players that have played/are playing in Spain... hope it doesn't become a bigger problem in football.

RIP.

here we go again... another player dead.... an heart attack... again.... a liga player.... again....
espanyol medical staff said the player turned out to be absolutely ok during this summer check up..... but to be honest i can't help thinking that's not true.... cardiac anomalies are pretty easy to spot with some normal exams.... the thing is some leagues have some very poor standards.

fadiga was ok by the premiership standards.... but as soon as inter bought him, the italian sport institute of medicine didn't give him the "green light" to play in serie a coz of his cardiac issues.....
so he was ok by the english standards, but not by italian standards.... there's something wrong in this.
anyhow, may he rest in peace.

to be honest creatinine is not a drug. it's not addictive and it is produced by our body too.
however, that doesn't really make any difference. a kid should not be allowed to take creatinine.

Yeah that's right Ben, I dont see a problem in full grown adults using it to make themselves stronger etc, it's not steroids or something like that, but giving it to a kid is just stupid as their body is still growing and it could have negative affects.

Like you say about differing regulations, this is something that FIFA should look at so there is a strict uniform regulation across the board to stop things like this happenning.

You're right it isn't a drug as steroids and things like that, it was a wrong word, in Catalan (my mother tongue) the word can be used to describe any kind of chemical supplement. It IS NOT a drug in the sense english people would say the word, sorry!

I think that this example shows the pressure that is put nowadays on the athletes. If kids are "forced" to do that (I had friends in other clubs that had similar pression to take things) imagine what stars should be exposed to...

The media and the irrational calendar, with constant matches, flights and trainings put the human body to the limit. I think something should be done, but it's difficult because the clubs themselves will cover any trace of it. At the last stance, they will blame the player.

There was once documentary over in Italy talking about 'doping' - legal and illegal - interviewing not so known players from Serie A about the pressure from clubs and coaches to take certain substances in the 80's-90's... there were certain players that just disappeared from the clubs because they had died or had reactions to the drugs. Some players were paralyzed or just fucked up to play football.

I think the different conflicting sports laws in different countries make this an issue that FIFA/UEFA can't address.

Dani Jarque RIP

i just saw it on the news very sad loss indeed for the football in general and for espanyol specially. its just so shocking when such a young person dies so much out of nowhere its really sad.

RIP jarque

There are micro anatomical conditions within the cardiac muscle, or changes in muscle mass that need high resolution scans to be observed.

It's a very sad incident and he will never see his young child.

I do not know why he is still included in the current PES2010 game. It seems rather insensitive unless Konami.Inc have discussed the matter with his family, wife and relatives and the hierarchy at Espanyol CF.
