27 December 2002
Fluminense FC / Arsenal
With the results of this Tuesday and Wednesday, the names of the finalists are known by now.

In Quito, Ecuador, LDU held a 0-0 draw against America-MEX to advance to the final (the 1st game was 1-1 in Mexico).

And tonight in Rio, Maracanã, maybe most of you missed, but it was one of the most exciting clashes this year. Fluminense won 3-1 against Boca Juniors after seeing their place in the final in danger with a 0-1. The 1st match in Buenos Aires ended with a 2-2 draw.

So, who would you choose as your favorite? Flu or LDU?

i watched almost all boca games in the knockout stage and have to admit that fluminense had a bit of luck, especially in the first game (but also today after the 2:1). but they made it to the final. quito has a great run so i vote for them even though i think that fluminense is the favorite.

I also admit we had luck. Hell, if you want to eliminate Boca is hard to do so, without luck. But yesterday the turning point really was Washington scoring with the FK to tie the match 1-1. After that, Boca threw themselves desperately to the attack, leaving plenty open spaces.

Great win! I'm optimistic :)

LDU's run isn't so impressive, seeing how they qualified in the last 2 rounds without winning, just draws and advancing on away goals. Even so, they will be hard to beat, I think!

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

they dont play very attractive but at least they are able defend well. who plays at home first?

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

LDU plays home first..

it will be intersteing to see a libertadores final in Maracana after so many years...

Ernestito, about what u said, ure totally right..Flu was very lucky in this clash...but Rentboy pretty much nail it when he said that to beat boca u need luck...thats the reality of things... sadly my Cruzeiro did have that luck against them in the second macth , when we were able to dominate them, but not to win :(

Rentboy, why is Flu using the old kits in libertadores?

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

Both Boca-Fluminense legs were amazing..great matches!

I really don't know, man. Maybe Adidas have not supplied them yet with the amount necessary to the competitions (the new kit was announced on May 19th).

Anyway, very little changes were made to the home kit. They improved the white kit though, it looks so much better now!

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

sadly we dont have tv channels in germany showing south american football. although i have turkish pay-tv aswell showing copa libertadores matches, i prefer fox sports. i simly LOVE those commentators. they express the fans' feelings on tv and then seeing the crowd getting crazy...you have to feel it and i think as a fan of a specific team you cant even describe those moments of happiness. i have a lot of dreams in my life but dying without being in "la bombonera" would be horrible. i love south american football more than european because i think we have lost a lot of values in europe which make (made) football interesting. i dont want new and modern stadiums, i dont want VIP seats...all i wanna see is passion for this game. so i really hope argentina, brazil and all other south american countries will never change. i mean you only have to look at the celebrations of the players compared to the players in europe...huge difference.

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

^ agree 110%, I went to the Bombonera last year for the Libertadores final v Gremio, it was such a fantastic atmosphere, and the same at Nuovo Gasometro (for San Lorenzo v Arsenal di Sarandi). I've watched matches all over Europe (England, Ireland, Germany, Portugal, Spain) but the experience of Argentina was out of this world.

For the 2014 World Cup, Brasil will have to change. Let's hope for the best.

For me the first time in Maracanã was remarkable. I'm already booking my place there for the final in 2nd July :)
But before that, I'm also making a trip to Buenos Aires. I'll try to watch a game there, also planning a visit to La Bombonera. But I'm not wearing my Flu shirt there for my own sake

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

do you guys know if there is a possibility to buy south american football games in the internet? maybe some channels offer live streams.

Dont know about any online pay-per-view services like that. But there are some live streamings on www.myp2p.eu

There you can find football from all around the world, but the image quality is poor most times.

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

thank you guys anyway. gotta live with that then.

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

ojala gane el flu, se lo merece...

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

I use LiveTV on the web, they have most of the matches streamed up from golTV, this weekend they showed the Bahia Blanca v River and CA Lanus v Boca matches, and then USA v Argentina last night.

I saw some San Lorenzo Libertadores and Club America matches on it too.

Re: Copa Toyota Libertadores 2008 Final

It is now called Copa Santander Libertadores ;)

Santander it is indeed. I noticed after posting the thread, but couldn't find where to edit the thread's title!

Let's hope so! Gracias amigo :)

Man, I'm gutted. What a terrible display of defending last night :(
Completely outplayed!

Its still possible to win 2-0 or 3-0 in Maracanã.. But LDU is supposed to come and defend the 2 goals advantage and counter-attack. Things turned difficult to Flu.

just o put an end in this thread, LDU won the Libertadores cup yesterday nigh on the penalties.
the game result was fluminense 3x1 LDU

but in the penalties the ecuatorian team clinched the cup

congratulations LDU
