Commentary jumping...

Seen that quite a few people are having problems with not being able to hear the commentary or getting strange sounds.

My problem is that after a few games my commentary starts stuttering/jumping eg: "5 minutes to go before, 5 minutes to go"

Anyone else had this problem or any ideas of a fix?

I've had that a couple of times. A reboot was the only solution for me. The menu music skipped as well.

I had exactly that problem but fixed it by doing the following;

Firstly (I am using XP) recently Microsoft released a patch that bridges the sound card properly for use with Direct X 9.0c.

Google "MICROSOFT UAA HD AUDIO BUS DRIVER" and you'll likely find the patch/update.

This mostly affects Gigabyte motherboards, but does affect others, especially if you have a sound card with a realtek chipset.

Secondly, and if you have installed the update and it still doesn't work, update your sound card drivers. As far as I can tell, all sound cards affected by this stuttering problem have a driver update to accompany the UAA HD patch.

Hope that helps somehow.

P.S. If you are using a Gigabyte motherboard, Google 'motherboard_driver_audio_microsoft_bus.exe' since that's the fix you will need.

Thanks man thats great, will try it and let you know.

I have an xfi xtreme music and it hasn't had a new driver for over a year...Will it still be worth the patch/update you mentioned?

Not sure, but it's always worth updating your audio drivers to the latest version. The Microsoft bridging patch mainly affects Gigabyte motherboards as I said but does affect some others.

It did fix my problem though, and I thought I was alone with Champion and Lawro talking over each other and babbling "Cesc.. Cesc.. Cesc. Fabreg.. Fabreg.. corner.. the keeper should... goal!" :p

Good luck, sir.

Certainly did. As bad as the commentary sometimes is, I didn't pay £30 to listen to MC Champion Feat. Lawro :D

I should add.. after the patch the commentary issues came back for me GRRR.

However, tested some more and did two things to fix it yet again!

Firstly, CTRL-ALT-DEL when the game is running and set the priority of pes2008.exe to realtime.

Secondly, close anything else that could be causing a memory leak (I closed Openoffice Quickstart and HP Imaging Software from the task bar) and my sound was working 100% again.

No idea what's causing this but can only be processor or RAM based, but it's damn annoying!

For the record, my PC is.

Athlon 4200 64 (on Gigabyte motherboard)
2GB RAM
GF7600GT PCiE graphics (256MB)
Realtek on board sound (creative PCI card had same problems)

Game runs perfect with this setup apart from the aforementioned sound issues.
