stats since the 97/98 season (12/13 included), when the non-champions were allowed to enter the competition for the first time so the last 8 meant something tougher than the previous years.
the list expands dramatically if the players with five or less goals are included so it's the reason I set the six as the limit.
why the last 8 and not the last 16? between 97 and 98 there was no last 16, between 99-2002 last 16 was another group stage which means more games and a little disadvantage for the players who played CL since 2003. but most importantly, the lucky draws happen more often in the last 16 than the last 8. in the last 8, the chances are quite minimal. I mean, scoring 3 goals against barcelona and doing the same against lets say, malmö (no offence) shouldn't be treated equally. yes, sometimes the similar situation happens in the last 8 too but it's quite rare comparing to the last 16 stage. of course, if you didn't like what I mean to say you can forget about this weird explanation as well.
last but not least, "last 8" = quarter finals, semi finals, final.
