Incredible work mate.

Regarding the finesse shots, I observed the AI taking them through specific angles. I think on assisted, the game automatically adjusts your position relative to ball (I think this is because of the mocap animations requiring players to be at a certain place), but doesn't do that on manual (which leads to straight shots).

By making my player look in the same direction as AI, finesse shots became more reliable but I always hit the crossbar.

I think player positioning and the direction they face make finesse shots hard apart from the very strict aiming since accuracy is needed to beat the keeper.

Also, do you have tips on the medium range long balls, for me even if I get the timing right, from both high and low power lob passes, the AI players catchup and it always becomes an air duel instead of chip through pass.

Cheers

Hi @The_Knight thanks for taking the time and effort in doing the video. :)

I very rarely play new PES games because I still enjoy the retro PES'.

Having watched the first bit about manual passing I am tempted to have a few games, but I wanted to ask do stats play a part when playing FUMA? Do you find it harder to play that defence splitting pass when using an average player? Apologies if you did mention it in the video, i have only watched the beginning but will watch the rest later. ;)

Thanks

As always, absolutely incredible work. Top-notch, unbeatable, never seen anything even comparable. God, I remember doing the PES 2018 Evo-Web review videos and I feel like deleting them now, they're a kindergarten production in comparison.

One of my only hopes left for football gaming is that someone like you, who really cares about the sport and the authenticity more than the myClub dollar, gets an official role at Konami (in a production capacity, not a video-creating capacity, because all you'd do is make me want to buy the game and then be immediately disappointed at how woeful the AI is).

Top, top, top top top top top TOP work. Ridiculous that you're not getting paid for the amount of work you've put into this.

Thank you, on behalf of a community that can only thrive with more people like you. Dedication like yours is the reason we're all here.

So in other words, it would seem to me that player traits and abilities actually do make a difference in manual passing, which is something I suspected all along. Logically though I would think, that with PA1, passing stats would have a heavier influence due to more CPU input and less depending on exact player input weight direction. At least that's my experience. Great job with the review bro. :TU:

That's high praise. Thanks Chris, it's something I've wanted to do for a long time and this was my last chance to to do it. I doubt I'll be able to put together something like that again.

I actually dream of developing my own soccer simulator, but it's very doubtful this will actually happen as I'd have to start from zero with no coding background. Would love to advise on PES, hopefully there could be a role like that someday.

Every single one of us would love to contribute to the game, that's why we are here and why we're still talking anout it in such a passionate way after all these years. I for example would love to give my cointribution to the graphic side of the game (kits, banners and such) as that's what I did back in the day when I was active in the editing scene.
You would be one of the right people who could contibute to the game in a great way, and I hope your dream comes true.

Great video once again, it's difficult not to agree with your analysis. Thanks for taking the time to wrap up this season in such a good way.

Good luck for what's ahead man, it'd be difficult but I hope it'll give you a lot of satisfaction.

This is what I've been thinking about for a while now. Both football games derailed so much towards UserVsUser experience that at the core, against AI, they barely resemble football anymore.
And while Pes still has better foundations - its far cry from what the experience could and should be. On the pitch it becomes stale and repetitive very fast.
Full Manual controls and great ball physics can only carry the game for a short time. After that shallow and predictable AI ruins it for me.
PC mods might help a little, but for console players there was no immersive football game for a while now.
My hope is that one day few of the hugely talented people from here will decide to create their own football game from scratch, fully editable with shit loads of leagues that can be added, focused on simulation, challenge and grinding, just how old Pes titles used to be.
Hope that one day someone will throw a project like this out there, gets a great response, shit loads of money and ports it to all the consoles.
And at this stage it actually seems more plausible than getting a great game from Konami or EA again..

Fantastic video by the way. Huge effort.
Well done!

Guess the chances of this actually happening are higher than Konami focusing on a single player sim experience ever again!

This! There is a huge base of resources here and in other forums in shape of the long time nuts like us.
and with the Industrie and tech and all that evolving so rapidly, I can see that happen one day. :)

It would be a dream.
I mean, we wouldn't even need licensed kits/crests/players.
All in on a good offline gameplay, a good selection of national teams with no license of any kind, a handful of stadiums... And the chance to easily import everything: players, teams, leagues, stadiums...
It would really be a dream.

I have to admit I originally dismissed this from the title as if it were going to be praising how realistic the game is (which it's not), but skimmed through and there are a lot of good constructive criticisms and flaws pointed out around many aspects of the game, clearly a lot of work went into this, probably more than Konami spent on the "Season Update" itself.

One clip I found odd though was at 43:11 where you run 70+ yards in a straight line unopposed from your own box into the final third showing horrendous AI backing off into their box yet the main talking point is the player switch/movement on the final pass. I know it was in the section dedicated to the player switching problem but honestly if that passage of play happened for me that'd be the last thing that would piss me off.

Thanks @rajofa! There are several issues that can be pointed out in each goal, so it's important to highlight the one that serves its respective segment. The issue you describe is the focal point of this segment at 01:05:26 because it was a much clearer example seen on the replay too:

@The_Knight Hey man, Wassup?
Remember me?
I saw your Final Realism review video and I absolutely loved it.
I saw you gave your AIO patch for free. But, it's the turf included? Like the real turf or any other modded turf?
Because I can't buy turf on Osaba's Patreon. (Me No money poor lad lol)

Well he told me to remove the turfs from the free version which makes sense as it's a paid mod. So you can get those stadiums (England, Spain, Italy) from the stadiums section here. Tbh for $3 it's worth getting his mod because it's pretty much why this footage looks so real. He individually edited every single stadium in these three countries, so you don't have a single grass color and pattern for the whole game. Even the fog is stadium-specific.

I know man, I appreciate his work. He is the game changer for sure, but, I don't have money since I'm a poor lad. I am playing PES with a generic keyboard since I can't even afford any money for a controller. But I will get a cheap controller hopefully some day šŸ˜…
EDIT:
I am not begging you for his turf anyway mate. But, I am saying my situation here. And I will one normal turf from anywhere then..

Don't worry I didn't view it as such. I didn't even know the game was playable with only 8 direction input on a keyboard. If you have $5 I'd invest in a used controller rather than the mod!

It's mostly playable but only 8 directions as you said. But, it's really a pain to play.

@The_Knight Does the Thirdeyekidman tactics make a big difference? Do you feel they play better and more authentic to real life teams? Do you feel they play better than Klashmans (no offense to Klashman at all)? I'm debating on this mod and the Osaba mod.

Also, I can't view your video in the USA anymore. It's blocked on Youtube.

Of course they make a huge difference and gave the offline game a new life. This is probably why Konami didn't care about it because they want people to play online.

I'm working on getting the video unblocked. Ridiculous that they blocked the whole 96 minutes because of 4 seconds.

Ok. And it is ridiculous for 4 seconds. I've watched the whole thing already and it was brilliant. Just wanted to be able to refer back to it from time to time. I'm looking at possibly getting Osoba mod too since it looks great on your video.

Saw it on youtube and boy was it great, too bad your video essays spanning from PES 18 seems to be over with that abysmal Konami reveal earlier this week.

@The_Knight

About the finesse shots, I've been scoring them from outside the box using super cancel.
Just position the player and hold R1+R2, (instead of jogging or normal sprinting, move using super cancel) and then power up the shot.
I think its because super cancel affects player running and the shot. Using this, its possible to score against Superstar AI.

And for the curl passes which aren't consistent like outside curler, they are more consistent if you hold special controls while powering up the pass or through button. Via this method there are different trajectories of ball possible on FUMA.

The trajectories I found are:
1. Normal ground pass
2. Normal through pass
3. Curved ground pass (Special controls[R2] + Pass button)
4. Curved ground through pass (Special controls[R2] + Through button)
5. Lob Pass (Lob button)
Lob pass can be combined with
i. L1 for low powerful swerve pass.
ii. R1 for high pass.
iii. L1 + R1 for a faster and swervy normal lob pass
iv. L1+ Double tap lob pass for the ground cross(Works same way as normal through pass in most cases)

4. Through lob (Player Select[L1] + Through[Triangle])
i. Basic L1+Triangle is mostly same as normal lob pass

ii. L1+R1+Triangle is a bit higher if done straight or curvy if done at an angle to where player is facing. This is useful for curvy lob passes like outside curler more consistently.

All these have different uses and results in FUMA.

Cheers
