Bah, Porto gets 3 tough teams. :SHAKE:

A:
Chelsea should get the first place. Besides Roma it's a pretty easy group.

B:
Inter should win this one with Bremen and Pana fighting for the 2 spot.

C:
Barcelona and Sporting should get the two spots.

D:
This one is kinda of even. Liverpool is capable of the best and the worst, but should pass, and Atletico and PSV will fight to the end for the other spot. Marseille will cause damage on this group.

E:
Manchester to go on, and Celtic and Villareal fighting for the other position.

F:
3 teams that can win the group. It's hard to pick a winner, but Bayern should in the end prevail.

G:
:((, very even with Arsenal a little above the rest. Very though, but I have confidence Porto will get the spot on the last day.

H:
Another very even group. Real will always be favorite but this new Juventus and newcomer (?) Zenit will make the group a mess.

Re: 08/09 Champions League Group Stage Draw

I reckon Villareal will go through with Man U in their group and Atletico will beat Liverpool @ home.

Re: 08/09 Champions League Group Stage Draw

Group G,D & H seem like the Groups of death. I can see Bayern beating Lyon but Fiorentina I am not so sure.

Barcelona have a fairly easy group. But how they look at the moment they may be hard pushed. And I think Zenit can do it!

Liverpool have such a hard group.

This is how I see it :

Group A
Chelsea FC
AS Roma
Group B
FC Internazionale Milano
Werder Bremen (GER)
Group C
FC Barcelona
Sporting Clube de Portugal
Group D
Liverpool FC
Club Atlético de Madrid
Group E
Manchester United FC
Villarreal CF
Group F
FC Bayern München
ACF Fiorentina
Group G
Arsenal FC
Fenerbahçe SK
Group H
Real Madrid CF
FC Zenit St. Petersburg

Re: 08/09 Champions League Group Stage Draw

Interesting Group D. I believe they should classify:

Group A: Chelsea and AS Roma
Group B: Inter Milan and Werder Bremen
Group C: Barcelona and Shakhtar Donetsk (over Sporting Lisbon)
Group D: Liverpool and Atlético Madrid (over PSV Eindhoven)
Group E: Manchester United and Villarreal
Group F: Bayern Münich and Olympique Lyon (over Fiorentina)
Group G: Arsenal and Porto (over Fenerbahçe)
Group H: Juventus and Real Madrid (over Zenit St. Petersburg)

Re: 08/09 Champions League Group Stage Draw

Really expecting a lot from Fiorentina this season. Should be great seeing them get through...

What do you mean? Barcelona is far more stronger than last year as a team! I don't think we will be pushed at all, I reckon it's the easiest group we've ever met!

Re: 08/09 Champions League Group Stage Draw

Should be a tough one, but as said it may be a fight between ourselves and Villareal. Although can't take Aalborg lightly as the last time we where in Denmark we got our arses spanked.

Lucho Gonzalez goal against Fener :EASY:

Fiorentina stunned me in the first half. I was'nt expecting them to be in Lyon's level. Too bad the ended with a draw...

Thank god he left Juventus, I was delighted with the Juve score, I woke up at 1 45 to watch it, however, Thai TV likes to piss me off, I tried 6 different streams and again it didn't work. So I finally gave up. I saw the free kick from 30 yards by Del Piero and I must say it was a stunning strike, I was ecstatic with the win, Zenit are not a easy team and they had various chances which almost gone in (from highlights).

I hope we can get another 3 points against the other two teams, especially Real Madrid.

Very bad game against Fenerbahçe, they did not have players like Deivid, Edu Dracena and Semih Senturk in match squad due to injuries. But players like Maldonado, Selcuk and Yasin made silly mistakes. And Josico was very unlucky because he injured 5 minutes after he entered the pitch. Guiza, Emre and Alex were great yesterday but these players performance was not enought to beat Porto or getting draw.

If Fenerbahçe keep playing like that, they will have hard moments in Champions League.

Bodmer looked woeful in defence as well as Boumsong, I think both those guys should avoid playing there, Boumsong should avoid playing anywhere.

P.S. nice avatar you've got, Peter Eyres. :)

Boumsong need stop professional football...

seconded

but seriously don't u think lyon has some issues for that role this season. cris, boumsong and mensah are the only pure cbs available right?.... and honestly boumsong could hardly be considered a professional central back.

suddnely sky italy didn't buy ligue un this season, so i'm not really updated about le championnat, but i got to admit that when i saw bodmer lined up as a cb i almost spat out my beer. :CONFUSE:

Bodmer is a good player, but he should go to another club where he can play as AMF...Lyon only use him as CB (which in Ligue Un he does rather good IMHO).

most pundits here in France think Bodmer is more suited for the CB role ,they think he could do a career like Laurent Blanc(who started as AM,before finishing as WE know)
Against Fiorentina it was only the first game of the season,in which he didn't play very well

I was thinking to myself why Bodmer was playing CB, on FM he plays in midfield mostly.

I'll be happy if they keep playing like that till after Arsenal play them home and away ;)
